Hi everyone,

I have a site with some no index pages (i've double checked and they are definitely not indexed in google), but today I checked my analytics account and it shows some organic traffic.

Can anyone help me understand this odd behavior?

Thanks,
John

Why its odd? There is other source of traffic besides Google you know.

If the page is not indexed in google how does it have organic traffic from google? That's the question.

I have direct traffic to the pages.

sometimes the crawlers get targeted as organic traffic. Remember also GA does not track everything.

Dont you think bing ,yahoo ,alta vista also index pages and send traffic ???

That's a valid question but keep in mind that I've selected in GA the Source = Google and traffic type = organic, so bing and yahoo traffic is not considered.

The most likely reasons why the issue occurs are:

1. Your site is indexed but perhaps you are not searching properly. Make sure that you check that the right way. Are there any typos in the URL you enter? Is your traffic coming from .com, rg .in etc? Search whichever they are coming from.

2. Your images or frames might be embedded on third party sites, thus they send you Google's traffic;

3. Your stats program is in error. Or perhaps Googlebot itself is crawling the site and appears to send you traffic (again depending on the tracking system).

This shouldn't be strange. There are other search engines other than Google ;)

OP, Here is the answer that is already said by Kalaio,

You should check with others answers as well..
