Basic Methods other than Google adwords?

Right, I have a small campaign started to get leads sent to financial companies, like insurance.
I have a site, and an adwords campaign.

I am new to blackhat world and wondering are there any basic tricks, tools, or even paid methods to get my site at the top or seen by more people than I pay google for?

Im searching but unsure what to look for.
I am happy to pay for the ads to get my site listed high up on the ads on the right hand side of G, but i would ideally like my site to be on the main search of google, on the first page.
What are the methods behind this?

If you are doing anything the slightest bit wrong while running a Google Adword campaign in the financial niche, they will ban your account.
If you start making head way and people keep coming to your site, a person will review your site... not just a bot.
