i literally threw up a little when I read that. Devaluing links from expired domains does seem like the most obvious thing they could target.

Devaluing expired domains that have totally legitimate high authority links coming to them? Manual teams devaluing networks that are built as quality sites from the ground up? My, it's as if Google is betraying its commitment to supporting only "high quality" sites while only punishing "spam." I guess if it's quality or authority that it doesn't want to rank, Google flips the script and goes black hat like the rest of us do ('to heck with the rules').

They will look for the person's identity and personas online, collect all the information about them that they can. IPs they use to login to WMT, Gmail snooping, Chrome tracking, domain information, Google analytics, anything they can. Then map out their online activity and the sites they own or are involved with and get their team to be very harsh when analysing each site, usually ending up with them deindexing the lot.

Its happened to me.

I don't want to be a scaremongerer, but sometimes its not just a bluff and we have to protect ourselves. Google is now an attacker, a dangerous entity like a virus and you need to protect yourself.

Also they will try and pressure domain registrars to force domain owners to have correct public whois. They will devalue links from protected whois. I've heard some people are already noticing their PBN's perform better after removing privacy and using fake whois.

I think Google will continue to implement more filters that are much more sensitive. For example link velocity, anchor text ratio, do follow/no follow ratios, referring pages to referring ip ratios. And of course as everyone else has said, huge propaganda campaigns to scare people to switch over to Adwords

Because a naturally acquired high authority link is a naturally acquired high authority link, that is the source of the value, not the expired domain it points to. Google wants to be an Indian giver and act like such domains don't have great links, giving the sites their authority.They are flipping the script if they devalue sites with naturally acquired authority, since they state they value exactly such sites and pages, above other considerations.

They are removing anonymity from the net by requiring logins and tying profiles to paid phone numbers... when they have all that information, they can tell who is building the links to your site...you or someone else. Cutts then yammers on about Author rank being the next page rank and you have a bunch of SEO's repeating it like they heard it from God himself. Really they are just telling G which links are self built.

If PBN is very expensive and time consuming to create which it is then google won't give a crap. It is not going to hurt their profit margin. In fact, it is going to increase it. This is the reason why public softwares and public blog networks do not work well. They are not expensive. They are cheap. If they are expensive, google won't give a crap because the more expensive it is, the more people will go to adwords instead.

Is private blog network on hard task ? I don't have experience with PBN but i definitely want to try one out. I have been through forums and blogs about it. But yeah, that sounds much more $$ for a PBN.

Yeah exactly, that cost much more and it needs lot of efforts to maintain a PBN with quality content and links on it. PBN generates you thousands of dollars. But if it was identified and de-indexed by G for spam, thats the day your Goose laying golden egg everyday dies.

Whatever Google throws at us, we'll evolve and come up with something better.

At the end of the day, its all about how many resources you have. There are waaaaay too many BH's out there than engineers Google can employ.

But what someone said was true. The low level techniques will be filtered out and this is already happening (spun content etc). Google cannot eliminate everything, but it can at least eliminate the easy stuff.

Put another way, 'free' organic high rankings are only for sites that can pay the price in setting up their 'free' SEO systems, or else are already big-boy enough to be decreed to have the preponderant authority Google will rank highly. Everybody else is being steered into Adwords in order to get high placements. They're making SEO more expensive than PPC for most people, simple as that.

Google offered free organic ranking more easily in the past as a loss leader, to train everybody into following rules that improved sites for Google ad placement purposes. Now that the IM community is trained up, they've made 'free' SEO increasingly time, labor and cost intensive, to push smaller marketers into giving up and choosing PPC instead.

Marketers are faced with the choice of making themselves still more Google compliant (conforming either to the endless algo revisions, or to the 'quality score' rules for Adwords), OR junking preoccupation with big G and relying more on Bing/Yahoo, and link-through traffic to get targeted visitors.
