Can Amazon see your mac address?

Surf without flash, java and activex and you don't have to worry about anyone seeing your mac address.

However the big sites are getting heavily into browser fingerprinting and most browsers are readily fingerprintable and quite unique.

Try your browser on sites like:

and you will see just how much info your browser is spilling that makes you relatively easily identifiable. Even if you turn off flash (which you always should, flash bypasses proxies in most browsers and reveals your real IP through HTTP and DNS requests), there is still a ton of stuff they can use, especially HTML5 feature detection combined with screen resolution and other aspects of the window.navigator javascript object.

If you are doing things manually, your best bet is to use very standard installations of popular operating systems and browsers with a variety of standard screen sizes in virtual machines.

Are there new tools to avoid or mislead device/canvas fingerprinting?

I found the firefox addon Blender

Blend in the crowd by faking to be the most common Firefox browser version, operating system and other stuff.

Is there something similar or better for Chrome?

In the comments there's this guy saying you can achieve the same without the addon:

This is good for less experienced Firefox users, but anyone who is not afraid of modifying about:config directly should do so instead of downloading this addon.

Network Consultant here (working for the largest networking company in the world), I can 100% confirm that tracing your mac-address is absolutely not possible. The Amazon web-servers should be multiple hops away from your router/modem and a layer-2 re-write (mac-address rewrite) occurs at almost every hop which basically means that your public IP remains the same but your computer's mac-address is rewritten/changed at every hop en-route to the Amazon web-servers. I do sell on Amazon and can confirm that they have some sort of mechanism in place where they can identify if a particular seller or family member is trying anything suspicious.

They must use some sort of advanced device fingerprinting.

If you want to successfully manage several Amazon accounts it's better if you buy a used cheap laptop or tablet from ebay for each account.

Amazon stealth and Ebay ghost and the forum site it operates on is a JOKE. NO REAL INFO. Just people spouting off the same info they once read without even knowing if its true or not. They say to buy a new laptop. BULLSHT. They say MAC addresses can be tracked. BULLSHT. All this useless information from something written 10 years ago. OBSOLETE.
