I created a project on freelancercom and awarded a project to a freelancer.

All of a sudden I see that freelancercom billed me with $51. This is absurd since I didn't even pay the milestone and why $51? I don't see this anywhere on their site.

Perhaps it's a percentage of the value of my project but I awarded the project it doesn't mean they can charge me without me even committing to the project via payment. I did intend to do it but My project is only USD1,700. Maybe I missed something.

Also, I was thinking not to use freelancercom but use the same freelancer on elance.

Lastly, my thread asking about freelancercom was mysteriously removed from thewarriorforum?

You're asking two questions that should be asked to freelancer and warriorforum, imo.

Neither freelancercom or warriorforum replied.

Actually I posted this exact thread on WF 5 mins ago and it's been deleted again with no reason.

I agree with codexehow, stay away from freelancers. Each and every fucking time I tried to make money there I got shaved or scammed luckily it was small projects.

Go on Elance or Odesk

But freelancercom has my address (I gave them when I was signing up). Should I just ignore their $51 fee and ask that freelancer to do the project with me on elancecom? I think he may also have been charged when I awarded the project to him

If you haven't heard about it, Freelancer.com is a site that scams people on a large scale. Delete all your data, delete you CC data and everything about you from that site. They will rip you off.

Unlink your CC from whatever payment method you entered. This happens many times as new guys are not aware about site rules. Freelancer is a total scam.

freelance has been shit for years now, avoid it.

as for warrorforum, they are faggots, that is why

posts before me says truly that freelance is scam i have linked my cc account before and they charged me even for deleting content
lots more than 100$ total
better use odesk

Good thing I didn't link my CC....I've asked that freelancer to move onto elance. Hopefully freelancercom didn't charge him anything for me awarding him the project. Even if they did I hope it's not something that he can't recover.

Does elance charge immediate fees if I award someone a project ?

this is why i hate them , even if the job is not done they still bill 51 , finish the job or go to elance and continue

Freelancer.com charge for award the project. If i am not wrong, you are a premium member. So, for $1700, they charged 3% and it's $51. Otherwise, there must be some "MYSTERIOUS CAUSE", LOL.

Freelancer charges a fee upfront the moment a project is awarded to a Freelancer. They do not care if the project really started work or if the Freelancer did complete the job. The site simply wants it's share of the fee upfront the moment they manage to help you match your job with a Freelancer. Quit using that site as this term is simply unfair especially for a company that is listed on the Australia exchange.

just as other members said, stay away from freelancer.com

Does elance/odesk ask for the fee once the job is completed or are they the same?

I'm a free member on freelancercom btw

Freelancer is a joke. Most web designers are noons with no experience I have had to file claims a few times because they don't listen to reason either.

Odesk and Elance charges differntly I don't recall as it's has been a while since I used it but you can find out by reading the TOS which you should always do.

Odesk can charge by milestone also.

I don't know how that many people still use freelancers. I understand for hungry indians doing a 100$ job at 0.5$ but a lot of people knows about it being a scam farm
