I've a website being prepared.
Programmer and content manager are working in the back end and right of as now google is blocked from crawling through robots.txt

Alexa rank is around 800,000.

Site will be launched within few days.

What can I expect when launched... Will rank go way down upon launch or it will stay like that for a while and I can start playing with my keywords?

Thanks!

From where you get you current traffic and is the website totally blank now, or it has content that will be replaced with the new one?

If you get your traffic from non SE sites, yes the traffic will remain upon launch.. if you get SE traffic that will change for sure

Site has under construction board in it (content is there but accessible only with password).
I'm getting traffic from non SE.. I think its because programmers and designers accessing sites time and again.

What content have you placed to get 60 to 100 visitors a day from SE?
And you said your robots.txt is stopping google crawing? what content?

If you have access to your statistics you will know exactly where the traffic is coming from. If you don't have access to statistics, get that taken care of instead of worrying about Alexa. Unless you plan on flipping your site, Alexa is pretty much worthless for your own sites.

Content is basically about fun and entertainment i.e jokes and quotes. Those content are blocked.
Since its not any referral link or promotional, may be it wont be any trouble posting name of website.

Content access is given only to few programmers and designers through facebook login.

Traffic is 100% direct domain name typing... Not from Search Engines
Doing this project with long term vision.:happysad:

Alexa rankings are backwards. For example: I have a website PR4, gets 5k unique visitors per month, and ranks #1 in almost every single search for our target keywords that is 15M Alexa. Then I have another website: It gets like 60 unique visitors monthly, PR0, mostly 2nd page rankings, as it got hit with penalty awhile back and it is 1.5M in Alexa. Both are the same age as well. Another with 15k uniques monthly local/regionally and 12M Alexa.. makes no sense.

Agreed, I have long since disregarded Alexa. It's only useful to try to flip sites/domains these days.

I have often wondered. Can't they be easily manipulated simply by sending loads of bought traffic to your site..?
