Best platform for images?

i was wondering if anyone know what would be a good platform for hosting pictures with a blog like adserving.

i know thechive is using on a heavily modified wordpress theme, but would there be any platform that would be easy to optimized?

yeah, im not sure which subforum would fit this question. my appologies.

i am using wp for one of my image sites, but it feels slow.. which i think its most likely because of my theme.
