So, big G will add a big annoying button to gmail so readers may easily unsubscribe for marketing emails instead of digging through the footer to find the link. Personally, I don't care very much because my content is solid but I know this will matter to a lot of people and I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't change my stats at least a little bit.

How do you feel about this?

OP since your content is solid, where do i subscribe to your list?

you can pm me if not comfortable revealing here...

Google is slowly trying to destroy all the black hat ways people are using to make money. For blogs it was Panda and Penguin, now it's this.

anything that allows me to clear my own inbox faster of the shite people send me is welcome.

Why is this bad? This is great. Do you really like receiving emails like:

S@tisf@ction Gu@rantee:

If you are not completely satisfied for any reason with your
purchase, you are entitled to our full 100% M0ney B@ck Gu@rantee.
You will receive a full refund - no questions, no h@ssles.

Email marketing is great...just do it right. All the time, effort and money to spam....who in their right mind would reply to pure sh#t like above? Nobody with $$$, that is for sure.

This will save me a hundred hours in the first year. Screw unsubscribing from every bs company on multiple email accounts. I commend Google for this one.

Marketing via email is the best way you lunch new things in get traffic.

The size of the button doesnt matter when you're subscribed to Majon International, lol.

That sounds good for me.. Too many crap emails reaching inbox.
Many people still abuse the spamming instead on focusing targeting quality and not quantity.
So, its good news.

I wish Yahoo had it too.

I had to delete 1,700 junk emails today from it.

This is actually the first move in a very long time Google has made that I actually support!

Glad to see a feature like this being built into Gmail. Will surely save me heaps of time from deleting all those spam emails 1 by 1 by 1 by 1....

Contacted :)

I think that's relevant?

I welcome it, with arms wide open.

I think I will use this feature a lot

@Above

I totally get it, this will definitely be something that many people will make use of. It's worth noting that the end of that article mentions some reasoning by Google that I can certainly relate to. They say that it's common for frustrated "readers" to click the Spam button when the unsubscribe link isn't right in front of them because that Spam button was easier to get to. I've done that plenty of times, and that would hurt the list owner more than an Unsubscribe button in the Gmail app. To be clear, I support the change and I also support discussion surrounding the change because I find it to be an interesting topic.

So far everyone seems to be thrilled with it in this thread, anyone unhappy about the change?

So does this really unsubscribe the reader from the list, or does it just create a Gmail-specific rule to filter emails from this sender?

That doesn't sound annoying at all. It sounds awesome.

If your business plan involves spamming people who would normally want to opt-out then you clearly don't understand your consumers. These are the people you don't want in your mailing list.

This. So much bullshit in my inbox, half I don't even remember signing up for.
With Penguin/Panda, Google is in a way forcing people to adwords. Adding an unsubscribe button is top.
Offer something of value that people may want (targeted traffic) and you should have no problem.
This just makes it easier for us to get rid of shit we never really wanted.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. If someone is getting tired of spam then they'll find the unsub, be it in a footer or a big 'ole button.

I'm Asking can we have Big unsubscribe to Google ads that floating around our mail box too !

I find it hard to believe that most of the experienced guys here say it does not matter. Maybe you are not sending thousands of letters and don't know what an A/B testing is.

This button will cost millions to serious marketers with huge lists.

I am happy I am not into this field.
