Fear of Clients Stealing Ideas

I am using 77's method for the dice in envelope and making a review page. I've added a couple of twists to the whole page. I've broadened the approaches and tweaked them to different scenarios after failing last month. I've legitimized the look of the business as much as possible with the amount of resources I have right now, so that means there is still room for improvement, but it's not too bad.

The thing is, I am planning on targeting medium to large sized businesses with that idea, because they seem more open to online marketing. If I go talk to someone from a company's corporate office, let's say the director of marketing or something, then wouldn't the chances favor him declining my deal, and then creating a web page for themselves and doing this idea? it wouldn't cost nearly as much as what I would make them pay.

Is this a common doubt among businessmen?
Does adding little twists to simple things and making it complicated lessen the chances of getting the idea stolen?
Would an effective sales speech and closing get rid of the chances of this happening?

I am pretty new to the world of business I would say, I was recently a college student. I am 21 years old so I haven't experienced much on a professional setting.

What do you guys think?

Of course they can. That's why you need to try convince them you know what they're talking about. Besides, you don't want the clients who will take the cheap way out, anyways.

I could probably repair my refrigerator myself, if I really tried.

If you're really worried about this, don't tell them exactly how you're planning on doing everything. Just let them know that you'll get it done properly.

The thing is for me to close the sale, I would have to tell them what it is that I am doing. If it was SEO or something then it would be a different idea.

It all comes down to your clients, and how you present your business to them. You won't win them all dude.

For example, I do web design. Some clients request a mockup upfront, and as a courtesy I do it for free. Most of the time, it helps close the deal. Sure, I've just revealed my ideas by exposing the innermost sanctum of my creativity and they can run off and get their nephew to do it for free. But they won't, because I act like I know what I'm doing.

I believe that small businesses are more likely to do that instead of larger organisations. But that`s just me...

just wondering cause, i've targeted so many small businesses and either they dont respond or their excuse is lack of fund or that they want to invest into something else.

a lot of properties that rely on reviews heavily are larger businesses as well. idk i guess we will find out.

No . But I guess a small business owner would try to do most of the things by himself to cut costs. It also depends on the type of business.

oxonbeef, thanks for that, but how would that strategy carry over for a product or a service like i am selling?

create multiple meetings (i can only see a max of 2 meetings happening for my service) and just talk in broad terms that don't give out the recipe but explain the function?
