Hey all,

I am in the progress of opening a new translation service for my company, and I'm still looking for experienced, exceptional translators.

What exactly am I looking for?
Just to give you a quick insight into the type of work we're doing: we just translated an entire fiction novel from German to English, before that academic theses and before that apps and websites. So you get my drift, we're talking high class, high-quality..this is NOT your average fiverr quality.

Thus, obviously we need natives - and by that I do not mean you just went to elementary school somewhere...

If you are experienced in this field of work OR you can pursuade me that you are so badass that I simply need to hire you - let me know!
Any languages are welcome! (however, obviously, you should be able to communicate in English!)

I have two university degrees in French Literature (One of which is from La Sorbonne University in Paris) and I am currently living in Paris as I am preparing my masters.

Alright, so since quite a few asked me about the rates, I thought I'd address the topic openly:

Your pay depends on the quality, it's as easy as that.
The basic rate would be something along the lines of 0,15 $ per word.
(just a reminder, a normal fiverr gig would pay you around 0,008$)

Yet, I already asked some of you on your specific knowledge and fields of expertise.
If I have a customer who wants to have a document translated on quantum physics, I will obviously need an expert. If that happens to be your niche, I am gladly willing to pay you a lot more.

But after receiving quite a few "interesting" messages via pm and skype, I think I need to point this out once more:
I am looking for above average skills here.
Our customers rely on us for our high level of quality and expect nothing less from our translations. In return, they are willing to pay more.
If you have no prior experience in translating, then you have to be a natural or an expert in a specific field.

I've done a small handful of projects like this. One thing that helped me was having someone who solely spoke the language you are translating TO act as an editor. They can read it and make appropriate corrections while communicating with the translator. This may or may not be the right way of doing things, but it really improved my quality of service. Again, that's on a sample pool of only 4 sites though.

You are definitely right - that's a good way to do these kinds of jobs. I did this before, however, one of the things I noticed was that the translation should be pretty good to start with, otherwise you end up changing the whole document and style.
And of course that also requires a translator who is willing to learn (which should be the standard, but sadly isn't).
But yes, basically you are right. =)
