Should I buy this laptop?

Hey guys. I know a thing or two when it comes to computers but, I just want to ask you guys is this a good idea.

The specs are as follows:
AMD A10-5757M QUAD CORE
12 GB DDR3 (WTF why 12 lol why not 8 or 16 but, OK )
1 TB HARD DRIVE
HD RADEON 8650G
15"6 LED DISPLAY

Well, that's all you need to know. Main purpose is for working like, creating videos maybe (totally OK with those specs), checking stats, reading, creating websites, surfing around, emails, chatting, connecting to VPS and simply, working when I leave the home.

Now, the price is around $700 and I'm currently making around $50 a day and I already have $300 but, I don't have $700. I could use my CC and slice 3x$233 per month. That's totally doable with my current earnings and I'm scaling up as we speak. You guys think this is a good idea? Currently I share my room with my brother so sometimes I don't have access to my computer and this would allow me to work when he's using the room/sleeping/working out...

That's a bad path to go down. Don't put it on your CC - that's a worse path to go down.

Save your money - do you really need a new computer right now? Don't set yourself up for disaster..

Honestly that's more of a personal question, it's hard for us to say whether you 'should' or 'should not' do something.

I'd say though that you seems to be doing fine now, and I think that rather than tie up that money on a new computer it would be better put to use by investing it in your current activities so you can start earning more money before you worry about buying a computer.

If you are making $50 / day, it would only take a few more days to reach $700. Much better then using your CC, then you have to pay each month for the bank. Plus if something happens with your income (hope it won't happen) then you are in shit. So better wait a few days and then go for it.

Theres always gonna be a good chance to buy a laptop, especially a good one That quad core AMD A10-5757M cpu is slower than a dual core i3. HD RADEON 8650G GPU is kinda crappy as well - no dedi memory so you will feel it when running gpu intensive apps. $700 is not much for a laptop but I believe you can find a better value for this price - i3/i5 cpu, amd/nvidia gpu with dedicated memory. And forget about those 12gb ram, its just a marketing. You will be more than happy with 6gb

Go with i3/i5 and a decent.. gpu if possible and you will thank me later

the laptop did have decent specs. Although intel cpu's have more cache than amd cpu's I prefer to use amd.

the laptop did have decent specs. Although intel cpu's have more cache than amd cpu's I prefer to use amd.

I do not see any decent spec for a $700 price mark, I dunno maybe I'm blind, waiting for my prescription glasses to arrive

One thing I hate about Acers that most of them have soft, flimsy body. Maybe premium models have solved this issue

As to my experience I would always go for a gpu with dedi memory.

M - mobile microprocessor
U - ultra low power micro processor

I don't get it. What's wrong with AMD? I love AMD.

Nothing wrong with AMD, just i3s/i5s is simply the best deal price/performance wise

I meant, which in your opinion is better? It seems the Us are slower than the Ms when I look at the benchmarks. But I guess the lower power means better battery life.
