I have a wordpress website and I have a decent SEO pluggin that I use. I blog atleast once a day and I have been doing backlinks as well but my website is not going anywhere with regards to ranking. Any tips on what I should do will be highly appreciated.

There are quite a few factors that could be affecting your ability to rank.

#1 i'd say is the quality of your posts. How many words is each post? What is the keyword density on each post?

So I would definitely search around the forums for more information regarding that as there are a lot of helpful posts for that topic.

#2 would be the quality of the backlinks you are building.

Depending on the quality of your backlinks you could actually be hurting your site more than helping it, or just doing nothing at all. So maybe if you told us a little more about how you are building links that, we could provide you more useful help!

It is a SEO pluggin by yoast. I follow the instructions on Keywords, Titles and all that. the website is wwwthewebhandlerscom/blog

There is no "silo structure", so dont waste your time on reading up on that. Keep in mind, SEO plugins dont do anything for your SEO. You have to actually use the plugin effectively and correctly. If it was that easy then everyone with a website would install a SEO plugin and be done with it!

You could possibly be targeting KW's that are just simply too competitive. A lot of people don't do KW research beyond whatever their tool spits out, and don't have a clue about the actual competition because there's simply not enough data in most KW research tools. You really have to go through and check each word individually - manually - and see if it's something that's worth the effort. Early on it's hard to get a feel for what's possible and what's not with the extent of your SEO capabilities. Practice makes perfect applies to everything except SEO - it'll just make you better, but you can't be perfect because in essence everything we know is just theory. Even after thorough testing something may appear to be dead on, and the next day you could see the complete opposite results. SE's don't openly disclose their algorithm or what ranking factors are, and often any hints offered up to what will help is actually more of a smoke and mirror thing and counter productive (ie; matt cutts). So to answer you simply, without enough information to judge, I can just say that you're not necessarily doing anything wrong.

You could very well just be over-optimizing. How do your anchors look when you're link building ? Are they really diversified or are you stuffing main kw's in everyone? Do you have excessive alt and title tags with your KWs, and repeatedly having your KW throughout your content? These practices are outdated and do more harm than good.

You could have pushed too many bad links, and might need to clean up your backlink profile as best as is possible at this time (dissavow... ;\)

Notice everything I wrote above started as 'might', 'may', 'could' - I am not saying these are your issues for a fact.

You might be doing a million different things. The truth is, your 3 sentences don't tell me anything about your site besides that there is some content added regularly and you have a plugin that's supposed to help with SEO...If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me, but this is a little broad to diagnose atm...

Well would you mind saying what are you doing now as far as backlinks?

"good backlinks" means alot of things, the links should be from high PR (page rank) sites, the anchor text matters as well (the actual link), how many links are on the same page as your link also known as OBL (out bound links)

You should use the search function as there is an abundance of information on this forum as far as the basics of link building, article writing, and how to manually build backlinks!

I think I may have found your problem, based on this post im guessing your site has something to do with SEO.

-Most people who are trying to rank sites for SEO keywords, know quite a bit about SEO

And excuse me if I'm speculating a little bit but based on this post I think it's pretty evident you don't know much about SEO.. So it would pretty hard for you to write and provide quality information that would be of value to someone who is searching for information about "SEO"

While I agree with you on so many levels. I am learning and will not stop learning. I have been out sourcing the service for my clients and it sucks when you do not know much about the dynamics of your product. Its good to know what kind of battle I am up againist but sadly none of these SEO gurus can be seen face to face.

If you took time to check out my website under the services section, you can see that it is not my main service I offer. Granted now you have to offer the whole package and that is where I am heading. And for the record, if you are a good sales man, you can sell anything. Buying is an emotional process.

While I respect everyones opinion, do not come at me telling me how to run my business. That is not called for. Giving you a bad name??? Who are you and how did I give you a bad name?? I will not let you talk down on me. Like I said. I have been out sourcing the service and I do not have complaints from any of my clients. I have reached a point in my business where I feel the necessity to learn more than I already know. I do not market online and every one of my clients I door knocked on their business and acquired them and I keep good relations with them and I do offer a money back guarantee if service was not rendered according to the terms.
