How far can a purchased 'lead' go legally?

Ok so I got a question for you smart ones here on blackhatworld,

dunno if anyone here can answer this, but say I was to purchase a bunch of quality leads

name, address, phone number etc.

How far exactly can I go with using this info that was purchased? Do I basically have full rights to do whatever I want with this info or is their legal limitations on how far someone can go with purchased leads?

Well you can send a direct mail campaign using their address, phone can get a little tricky. You need to make sure that you can prove that they asked to receive phone calls on a certain subject, and prove where you got their information.

If the person is on the do not call list you can get f*cked if they were generated through coreg or shady optin method that they didn't know about.

I would say use skype out to call them (if it's you that will be calling) so that you don't get your number sent in as a telemarketer and get a huge fine.

Hmm no I'm thinking using their info to sign up for things. I wonder how legal that is, because think of how awesome it would be if for some reason you could get them into some legal binding situation where you were free to use their info to sign up for whatever.

There are ways you could use that info to sign up like you said, but it's probably not legal, and is definitely blackhat.

I'm not going to do anything illegal, so I don't need your advise. I already said I'm looking for a loophole, read above.

My point is to find a legal way around everything, now if a company can sell their consumers info legally, which they can... I am SURE there could possibly be a loophole, every signed up for one program and had a bunch of others come along with it? Don't stick laws in my face ever again, I could give two hoots about it unless it is a legal way for me to do what I want to do. Again, emphasize on seeking loopholes, I'm not seeking to be a criminal.

Imagine if someone would get your personal data and use it to take offers (or wathever) in your name, its like somebody would use your signature for his needs...

Do you generally find calling these lists to be of any use or is the person usually just bothered?

Well, in my country spamming is illegal, but there are some countries where its legal, anyway Im not an expert in this field.

I wouldn't stick them with any bills, I'm just wondering how freely purchased information can be used.

If I buy from a credible lead source, do I have the right to call them, send them mail, email them? If not, then what exactly makes it effective to purchase leads from them? I mean if you buy it and use it then how does it count as spamming. I mean are you stealing their identity simply by having it infront of you and using it contact them... It seems like a really iffy subject altoghether. I'm going to talk to some of the lead providers and see their take on this.
