Hi BHW, this I'm Reeshua and this is actually my first thread in BHW. 20 years old. Student. Newbie too, so go easy on me. 
A Little Background:
I learned about internet marketing when I was freelance writing. I got an assignment about SEO and my mind just exploded - it was so technical and jargon-ish! But I got curious and researched SEO until I learned about blogging, and finally Affiliate Marketing. I was particularly exposed to Amazon Associates. I was so enchanted by the thought of passive income, and given the fact that I lived somewhere in southeast Asia, even $100/month means a lot. And so I created a niche site and spammed it with about 400 backlinks from a single domain. I forgot the name of the service but it was FREE (say what?). After 3 months, my main keyword surprisingly went to the first page of Google and was sitting pretty on the 2nd spot. I felt smart.hehe. This fleeting moment lasted for about 4 months, but then an animal update was released and I went from +$100/month to nil. So I decided to hone my techniques the second time around and to properly invest in resources using my previous earnings.
Goal:
I think every journey should start with a goal. My long term goal is to earn $75,000/year. This is because I've read a study that people are most happy at this level of income. Beyond that, the utility or satisfaction derived from money diminishes. It's economics shizznit. Short term goal is to earn a stable $500/month by the end of the year. To put it into perspective, that's a decent, if not higher entry level professional salary (in my country).
What I Will Do/Already Did This Time:
I'm still discontented with my previous performance with Amazon Affs, so I will try it one more time. Here's a breakdown of what I already did and a few questions for you awesome people as well.
1. Researched a keyword. I have no keyword research tool so I mainly relied on Google Keyword Planner as well as the free subscriptions of Ahrefs and Open Site Explorer. My main keyword is the usual "best-keyword" format so it really is a money keyword. I also realized that I've actually found a good keyword because there are about 4 or 5 niche sites on the first page! So here's the question: What do I do to outrank these niche sites? I've already looked at my competitors' backlinks and I see that they are using some sort of blog network. My personal answer is just to "out-SEO" these people, but are there specific techniques you can share? What are your predictions for my site based on this scenario?
2. Selected my first 20 keywords and then wrote an article (450-500 words) for each keyword. One more question! How thin is a thin site? I'm already sitting at about 25 indexed pages, but I read somewhere that it's best to get to 50 pages before leaving your website alone. Is this true?
3. Bought a domain name. It's actually a brandable domain. Something like budgetwidgets.com. The reason for this is because I want to be distinguished from the crowd. Most of the niche sites that are already ranking there are named like bestwidgets.com or widgethub.com.
4. For SEO, I was planning to do it myself, but I realized that I am not knowledgeable enough to do it. Or I just might be too lazy. So using my savings from my first niche sites revenues I bought a service here in BHW. Took me weeks to decide because I was waiting for reviews. Basically my plan here is to send diversified links to my site and then add a blog network package if it doesn't rank with the first service. Newbie question time! Are most of BHW's SEO-packages for churn and burn sites or are they also good for long lasting effects? I feel that this is a truly newbie question, but I'm asking anyway.
5. I would also like to leverage social media. I have already created an FB page and am planning to purchase a Social Media service soon. I have already scouted a couple of potential sellers.
What I am doing now:
Am still waiting for the TAT of the service I bought. Hopefully, the seller delivers as promised. *fingers crossed* Found another potential niche (this time I'm the first ever reviewer) and have already written the homepage. Haven't purchased anything though, as I'm saving money for the first niche sites. I also have plans to create ClickBank-monetized site in the future.
TL;DR I wanna be rich. Set $500/month by the end of the year as a short term goal. Already made an Amazon affiliates website. Waiting for rankings to come.
