How much to pay for quality expired domains?

I am planning to create a small PBN. Last 2 days i was checking Godaddy auctions, mostly to see how much those domains get sold for.

I was using expireddomain.net and some other website to find those domains. I picked few of them to maybe buy some for good price.

Basically i was looking for domains with following statistics

-DA:20+
-PA:20+
-CF:15+
-TF:15+
-Natural and non spammed backlink profile

-PR doesn't really matter.

Now i see that everywhere people say how they buy domains for PBN for about $50 or less and they also have nice PR.

But how?!

There wasn't a single domain that meet the criteria above that was sold below $100. Most of them were sold for way more. Even the ones with PR0 gets sold for crazy prices above $100. Not to mention a PR4 domain got sold for $450+ that had all of the backlinks from parked domains from the footer (but yea it had very good statictics).

So i wonder how you guys find quality domains for more reasonable prices? Was it just 2 bad days when people had nothing better to do than bidding on domains or are those normal price right now? Or is there any day of the week when there are less crazy bidders?

A domain like that would not cost you more than $80 on a 'good' day

As you yourself said PR doesnt matter! However many buyers still dont understand this and keep spending money on anything with PR. I would strongly suggest to focus on Trust Factor and Backlink Profile only!

Thats a bit like when i first started. During my first week of searching, I got very frustrated since even very spamming domains were selling for 150+ But I hung in there and then you will naturally start finding domains that are good and surprisingly for those there is very little competition!

It depends, but i have priced similar domains in the range of 40-60$, but they were good.

Don't buy a domain based on its PR, you need to check DA/PA/TF/CF, the backlinks profile and the anchor distribution. I use more metrics but it's good way to filter the domains.

1st i'll recommend you to look at TF instead of DA/PA and PR of at least 1

you can scrape about 500 high pr (6-7) old pages, check the outgoing links on those pages, see which leads to dead domains. usually domains with links from PR 6-7 pages will have more links. use xenu for that. (VERY old method that still works)

-buy domains from 'buy it now' list, not bids. you can find a catch here and there.. or just filter the list by 'ending soonest' and try to pick on whatever got forgotten with good stats.

other than that.. yeah.. ppl go crazy sometimes with the prices but it is what it is

protip: sometimes the TF of the root domain can be like 6 (ppl skip those on the expired domains lists, because expired domains lists use root domains check) but the www. versions can be 25+ ...

I just pay the registration fee now. I too found expireddomains too spammy and expensive so I finally built my own crawler and I am now finding hundreds each week.

I too started finding domains but it is not as easy as I thought. Got to have some guidance of experience members other wise its a long and frustrating search.

I've paid around $50 for a few expired domains with good stats, but since then I've gotten better about sorting through the drops on expireddomains and doing some of the Xenu crawling suggested above. It takes some time, especially when you're getting started, but it gets easier to sort though the chaff with experience.

Not that hard (but not very easy either) to find decent expired domains. Just takes time, patience and practice, you could acquire one per day if you're efficient

Heh, finding one per day would make me kill myself... I don't reg often, but when I do I grab 30-40 at once. Doing things manually is so 19th century...

Just bought a domain PA 39 DA 30 TF 16 CF 17, cost me 121 to win the auction. Yeah, tried my hand at finding dropped domains and had no luck whatsoever after several days of frustration. Ill revisit that method down the road when I need a bunch

Well i started this thread 3 months ago. Now i got 3 months of experience hunting for domains. Now i get easily 1 domain with those stats for about $10.

I got some domains with Xenu/SB method, but i dont think its worth the time and work. Most of the domains i found with good DA/TF and good backlink profile didnt pass the archive.org test. Most of them were picked up already and used as PBN or some Asian got them 1st.

Don't you leave a huge footprint registering all those domains at once?

It doesn't matter what you do, your PBN will leave a footprint anyway. All it takes is for a reviewer to explore the backlinks of your money site and your PBN goes down the shitter.
