Is 2Checkout Good Option for Payment Gateway?

Can anyone who dealt with payment gateway services tell me which one is best to use? Is 2Checkout good option? Or i should just use PayPal?

lot of info about this on the forum already but in short paypal is shit but they are still number one, most buyers online are comfortable with purchasing stuff through paypal. 2 checkout is good but your sales will take a hit as not everyone has a 2checkout account or is used to dealing with them. If you can handle all the bs that comes with paypal limiting accounts etc... then go for it

If you make yourself familiar with the PayPal terms, and make sure you do everything 'by the book', they can be quite good to deal with. However, if you have a small turnover through their system, they will just treat you like the number that you are - so make your number big, and you get a personal account manager

2CO is not an alternative to PP.

You can accept PP through 2CO and you don't need a 2CO account to make a payment through 2CO.

You just need either a credit card or a PP account.

I've been using 2CO on and off for the last 5 years and never had any major issues with them (apart from their somewhat outrageous fees).

With that said, I'm also not in the "Internet Marketing" space, and based on what I've heard 2CO have gotten relatively strict in terms of what they do and don't allow to be sold through their platform, so your best bet would be to email them and verify whether they're happy with the services that you're offering prior to putting time, money and effort into setting up the account and the integration.

Another issue that doesn't bother me personally but that I know does bother many is that 2CO enforces their "strictly one website per account" rule, so if you're someone who sells through multiple sites (or accepts a lot of sales offline) then 2CO is likely going to be a nightmare for you.

If you're based in the US or UK then there are other, cheaper and better alternatives available, such as Stripe, etc. If you're in a third world country, though, then 2CO may easily be the best option. It also helps that they accept PayPal - especially for those in Internet Marketing.

I live in Eastern Europe so Stripe doesn't work for me. 2CO one website rule is definitely roadblock, so i guess best bet is to work with PayPal, yet their "reputation" makes me hesitant to do this. :/

I would not recommend 2CO. They will likely apply a reserve to your account out the gate, so while they'll quote you 2.9% in fees, you'll end up paying 7.9% when you have your initial reserve applied. Also, I don't have experience with chargebacks on their system, but people have noted that even one hiccup on your account and you'll have your reserves spike, document retrievals initiated, etc.

Some others to look into are WePay, Balanced Payments, and Braintree.

If you can do PayPal no point in checking 2CO, your conversions are going to take a hit for sure.

I've used 2CO and had a great account manager, I've made 5 accounts with them (Yep, limited 1 per service/site, you can't have multiple names so you need to make more). I did higher amounts so my fees were lowered which was great. I think if you get friendly with an account manager, they can help you out, this is a case with anywhere.


But it depends, on your niche & market. Keep in mind, 2CO takes more time to pay with, then it would via Paypal. Paypal takes seconds to pay, while 2Co can take a little more, so take note of that as well.

So research your market, whether they'd be able to pay via Paypal or not.

We use both. Despite the apparent increase in intelligence through the last couple of generations, some people still don't realise that you can pay with PayPal without an account. To make sure we get the sales from these stupid people, we accept credit card through 2CO and Paypal.

Yes, I think so. But their fees are pretty high unless you cannot sign up with Paypal, go for 2Checkout.
