I set up some Adwords ads- it's to promote a forum in the finance niche.
the ads are "eligible" but after a few hits on day 1, they are getting zero exposure.

i think maybe the quality of the site is not good enough, or bounce rate was too high.
its a brand new forum so of course there isn't much going on.

anyone got any advice? Maybe adwords isn't the right platform?

Why dont you call them up? Nobody here knows the answer. It could be a series of issues with your ads/keyword/landing page/credit card/etc/etc/etc

Your the spokesman for bhw right ?

Hi Davids.

Are there already plenty of other ads showing on your chosen keyword? I had this problem with a dating keyword once, it hardly showed, it only showed the main keyword brand domain.

to promote a forum. Are you targeting the main page. Select a thread in the forum that deals with a key issue and that has a conversation then promote that page to the specific demographic you are targeting which would I assume be (specified city)+(ages 30-55). If your forum is more towards younger audience then set them in your campaign.

It is always better to set multiple campaigns looking at different demographics, zones and topics. From that you can estimate which has a greater exposure and continue with that campaign and tweaking it as you continue on.

Reasons you have already mentioned plus low audience for your targeted keyword. Try other related keywords.

Goodluck.

Lol. You decided to add that second line to make your post a little less blunt? Come on man, bhw is supposed to be a community. If you aren't offering help don't get involved.

Yes there are, but it's not telling me my budget is too low. I think maybe the quality score won't be good enough.
im wondering whether I should target a landing page that then directs people to the forum? (Landing page could have more text and thus hopefully get a better quality score)?

Not too sure mate , it might help. Its strange because im running a campaign for a dating site, and the Ad Relevance is 'Below Average', yet im getting plenty of clicks and traffic? This landing page has very little text too.

He actually gave you the best advice anyone here can give you.
If everyone has to figure out the issues by themselves, why is the need of BHW? This community is to help each other and if anyone has any sort of problem or issue which they can't figure out easily. It's always the "BEST" thing to ask here!

Exactly.

Anyway, I think I jumped the gun, Today I have had 13,000 impressions! -I got a 0.03% CTR overall, but hey, its progress! Just going to do some refinements now and hopefully can get things rolling.

Thanks for the help guys.
