So for a while now i have been thinking about making a landing page for the area that i am in and then have it link to a dating offer... anybody here that has some experience with that?

Thinking about having 20 signs printed and have those put all over town :P

You might find a cheaper price on infomercials for late night cable TV.

I did something similar using paid survey programs. I advertised in the local pennysaver and put up some flyers on college campuses and grocery stores. Traffic was directed at a review style landing pg. I profited but got into CL and started earning more so I haven't tried it in awhile. Not sure how a dating offer would work. I'm not going to tell you what to do but with the economy the way it is "make money" programs might be the way to go.

I agree in that the "make money" and "home business offers" are the way to go. Start online though and build up enough capital to venture into the offline world of advertising.

hmmm....

If you were going to do this then you may want to target a more "mature" audience. Say people 35 to 55 years old. They have some assets put away, may own a home, been through a divorce or widowed and are lonely.

I did this for awhile BUT I became discouraged with the quality of service by the dating sites, themselves. They tend to hurt their income and mine by requiring people to join their membership BEFORE they can respond to a PAID members inquiry.

It makes sense on paper. You would think you would double or triple your business because people would pay to respond to someone who sent them an email. However, that's not the way it works in real life.

In real life PAID members expect to communicate with ALL members, paid or not. That's what they're paying for. But when they can't communicate with someone they find interesting because that person is a free-member then they become discouraged because more than 75% of any dating site is made up of free members.

Free members don't want to pay for a membership to answer one inquiry. And if paid members only inquire about other paid members then the free members drop out.

In any case, it's a bad business model but try explaining that to the dating sites. They deal in volume and don't care if you make money or not.

If you can, I would recommend a site where paid members can communicate with all members. And, I would target older adults in the 35 to 55 range or a specialty area such as swingers, bdsm, alternative, master/slave, etc...

Still a good market and income producer if you can find a good dating site to represent. If you do, let me know.

Use to see them all over town a few months ago...Seldom see them anymore.. Why? not sure.....

I tried this method in two different cities, one in Silicon Valley where I live now, and the other in North Carolina. I had good success in NC -- spent about $100 to get going, mostly buying tools to use to construct my own signs, and profited about $2k/month -- but in Silicon Valley I hardly ever even got any hits, much less leads. This is probably because of the "tech-savvy"ness of the folks around here, so I'd stress that if you want to try this, you might want to look for a market that you believe to be a bit more gullible or naive as to how affiliate marketing and the Internet itself work.

Yeah I travel between several cities in several states and for a long time use to see some areas saturated with signs like this. Dont see them as often now... my past experience with this type of method got good results.

BTW.. If you happen to run into trouble with the "sign police", apologize profusely and find out the reason the sign was in violation, then say that you will have a talk with the "advertising company" that you hired to place the sign. And if your area happens to be really strict about signs, put them out on Fri evening then remove them on Sun night because the sign police(city officials) only work Mon-Fri. This greatly reduces your exposure but lets you slide by in strict areas.

well, I think that dating niche will always make good money no matter if it's online or offline. Men or by nature. horny. That's why you see those AFF type of sites popping up everywhere and they seem to be doing fine.
