[HOW TO] Build Wikipedia Links

Go to google.com and search for:

site:wikipedia.org insert keyword ?dead link?

Replace the phrase ?insert keyword? with the keyword or key phrase that is related to your niche.
This will then pull up a list of results of Wikipedia pages that are related to your website and contain dead links.


Then click on the Wikipedia articles and search for the phrase ?dead link? on the page.


Wikipedia is looking to replace thedead links with valid links. All you have to do is link the URLs of the dead links to your site.

It depends on how active the moderators are. But if you see a dead link since 2012, there's a big chance that your link will stick longer.

Well the best way to make it stick is to go the the wayback machine (web.archive.org), and recreate the original page content on your own site, replace the link and your good to go.
Also add a (originally found on "original url" not linked) to cover yourself.

I know this is kind of a noob question (I've never dealt with Wikipedia or a lot of manual stuff) but how exactly how do you change the dead link? Do you just flat out replace it whenever you see the "edit" function? The links W130SN helped a lot but I didn't quite get it :/

A lot of the dead links are references, so you have to add the link to the reference from the body text, and then the outbound link from the correct reference section.

The easiest way to do it, is to find a reference that has already been done, and copy it but replace the url, anchor, ref no' etc.

In fact for dead links you don't even need to do that, just change the url and the reference name and you are good to go.

I did find a really good tutorial, but will not share publicly, pm for more details.

Click the 'edit' link at the very top of the page and Ctrl-F for "dead link".
