How do people sell items for 2 bucks on ebay?

Shipping first class is 1.92 and with the fees they lose money, so how do they do this? the cheapest i can sell for is 3 bucks and i'm only left with an 60 - 90 cent profit.

1. you can turn 60 cent into much more if you re-allocate it
2. they sell your details to cpa company
3. they are testing into a market, and taking small profit because they are either stupid or clever.
4. they want to just clear their stock rapid, even at a loss.

They not make profit by selling that items. They just taking at least your details (paypal email or address) for promoting items directly to your email. And it also good for quick feedbacks.

For larger companies with 1000s of orders, shipping costs are far lower.

But yeah, I suspect they sell your details too.

Most of them are doing feedback trading when the price is that low or trying to scrap information from buyers.

Mass quantity over quality.
And some people don't make a profit the first 1000 sales, they just want to get their reputation up before they start selling for profit.

It happens A LOT.... I'm pretty sure it happened to you within the last week, you just don't know or will ever know...

You could probably open yellow pages, pick a random company and sue them for this, there's a pretty good chance they actually did it at one point.

Some of these accounts are run by very clever entrepreneurs in Hong Kong. China has subsidies for exporters, so they are getting more than they would if they were selling out of other countries. The mail from China to the point of entry in the USA can ride on a freighter that had some extra space, at low cost. International agreements require that the last leg of the trip, from the point of entry to the recipient, at the expense of the destination country's postal service (USPS). And when the stuff itself is very cheap when sourced in China, and when the labor can be sourced cheaply, a profit can be turned.

lots of reasons. but mostly when i sell ultra low cost items for almost no money (10-50c profit), it's mostly to boost my feedback. more feedback = more trusted account = less chance of getting banned. it's basically to buy good feedback, while my money comes from my higher end items.
