Just got scammed

Okay I sold some guy my instagram account with 14k followers on ebay, he paid me the 80$ through paypal so then I gave him the details. He goes on and deleted everything I got and then requests the 80$ back. All I did was tell paypal that it was my money etc etc gave them a bit of proof and now It's saying that the money is being held, what do I do?

Paypal is messed up, so just pray they are on your side. They have screwed me in the past, hopefully they do not close your account and ban you like they did me.
 
That sucks. Paypal is not ideal for digital sales because they are obsessed with "tracked postage". You may need to write this one off as an $80 lesson.

Selling an Instagram account is a bit of a grey area: pay attention to ebay's guidelines on digital sales: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/downloadable.html

You can also set future sales up as "digital downloads" through paypal: https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/digital-goods

That way, Paypal will have a record of the download and this may help you prove that the item has been delivered.
 
Paypal is definetly screwed up with their 'chargeback' system. Imagine this, after you paid for a service/merchandise, you have the full power to take back the money even AFTER the service/merchandise is perfectly delivered with no questions asked. This ain't right, you can never do such a thing in the real life business world.
 
I hope so, but why would ban? And also I have proof of the guy saying that he has done it to other people, so why trust him now?

Exactly! It's so stupid, like 80$ man that's a lot for me :(
 
Oops.. a lesson for not using PayPal for these things... you can instead use western union! Its good way!
 
Tell Paypal it was a non-tangible digital product, i.e a product that cant be physically delivered. Paypal don't offer buyer protection for these so they won't offer him a refund. The only way he can then try and get money back is to do a chargeback with his credit card or bank.

That's what he has done, I tried explaining to Paypal everything and saying that I can provide proof etc. So I'm waiting for their response, also is it a real person who works at paypal who looks at the report or is like a computer?
 
How did you give the buyer the log in details for the account? Maybe you could make a screenshot of the e-mail, Skype conversation...
 
Well, I'd write off the Instagram account, report it as spam. Therefore you both are back to square one.

Also doing a chargeback via his bank/cc only would work if he did not pay with pp credit.

Why did they ban you?

I really don't see any reason why they would ban someone, expect if they are doing something fishy.

30 DAYS?!? If the 30 days is over will they give it to me or him, and also I told them it was an instagram account but didn't say virtual item:/ And I said that if they needed more proof that the money belonged to me, then they can message me and ask.. How do I add more information?
 
No issue mate all you need to do is respond to the complaint since PayPal 99% of the time sides with the sellers when it
come to electronically delivered services.

It does not matter if he deleted everything from the account. This is called an attempted buyer fraud method
but the idiot does not know PayPal does not protect buyers in the case of virtual goods. Only way he could win
is if you did the transaction without stating it was virtual goods.
 
I had no idea you could even sell something like an IG account on eBay.
I wish you the best of luck in getting your money back although I don't really know how likely it'll be.
