Link Pyramid - External Link Question

Hi,

I'm just wondering if the external links on link pyramid for tier 1, 2, 3 are strictly confined for the tier above it or the money site.

Is it alright for me to point some external links on tier 1, 2, 3 to other websites other than my own?

Or by doing so, break the purpose of link pyramid?

I don't think so. Money sites are always risky and all link pyramid tires may not suits properly.

Really? How insightful.

The principle behind link pyramids is:

a) you want lots of "good" backlinks to your money site (TIER 1)
b) google thinks "good" backlinks also have lots of backlinks (TIER 2)
c) getting your backlinks indexed makes them even more "good". How do we index? With more backlinks! (TIER 3)

If you are making Tier 1 backlinks such as web 2.0 blogs, articles, wikis etc, then always include links to other authorities in your niche. This looks natural. For Tier 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or whatever, it doesn't really matter as much.
