As someone already mentioned, taking payments is the risky part. Even running ads will lead a trail to you via your ad networks. But if you only accept payment in cryptocurrency, I think you can still stay anonymous.

But I know of dozens of sites that have been doing worse than what you intend to do, for several years. And they even host in unsafe countries and are all over google...

Actually I have been thinking about running a filesharing dump for a while, except I will be uploading the files myself to the filelocker, instead of copying other people's links.

Okay, so I would like to know if this can be done as a membership site before I go further into it.

Can I create a movie site that has links from putlocker, videoweed, videolion, sockshare, etc. and make it a membership site for people to access those links?

I am assuming it can be done, so long that I have offshore hosting, hidden from search engines, protected from Whois, etc.

There are free sites out there that simply takes links in the same manner, so if they are free and have ads all around, why not? Why shouldn't I explain this to my users, and let them pay to access movies from these sites, such as putlocker, etc.

Prime example: Imoviesclub on Clickbank products....

These websites who taking money for movies they have only copyright content, % from money going to the movies prod.

Usually if you have to ask if it's legal, it probably isn't. The better question to ask is: "Do I care that this is illegal?" or "How do I do this and not get caught?".

Yes, you should care, because the movies prod. can sue you and you will be forced to pay $$$ for copyright.

as far as I remember the guy in the UK who got in shit was because he had uploaded copyrighted materials on his server to generate ad revenue.

here's a possible solution:

1) make it look like your user base is uploading the links

2) state specifically that site owner is not responsible for what is uploaded and you don't host any videos on your server

3) DCMA

4) offshore hosting

you should be fine by doing those steps. the only reason file upload companies get shut down is because they are HOSTING the illegal content. if it's just your 'users' linking I'm pretty sure you won't get in any trouble.

I can name like 50 sites who all link to downloads for copyrighted materials (including the one were on now lol). if BHW hosted all these cracked downloads you don't think it would get in trouble? it's because linking isn't illegal hosting the content is.

with all that being said, make sure you have cash for a lawyer etc this isn't a niche to play around in and you need to have your bases covered in advance.
