Dogecoin Wallet won't sync. Tried numerous methods

Made sure on version 1.4
turned off UPnP port mapping
turned of windows firewall
deleted all files from %appdata%/roaming/dogecoin (except for wallet.dat)
added numerous nodes to the dogecoin.conf file
deleted the log file and tried again (reading the file through)
Ran the QT.exe as administrator
downloaded a newer copy of blk0001.dat and blkindex.dat (that just made a mess)
Waited 30 mins while the wallet was up before creating this thread

I just cannot get it!

Can someone paste their config nodes or give me other ideas? Here is my list. some repeat but I am not sure that matters:

NO running windows 8. Standard windows firewall. half the time I leave it off when using Putty. It seems to mess with AWS connections. Under help->debug->info I see 0 connections. even when I get 1 connection it does not update the local block index.

Is dogecoin like bitcoing, eg, can you have other softwares manage your coin wallet? Maybe you could try other softwares and see if they work. If your firewall is not showing any connections, then that program is probably being blocked somehow....

it is not a firewall problem or my other LTC clone alt coins wallets would not work either although the firewall is off. I tried their official forums, changing up the config file.....been at this for an hour.

i found a resolution to this issue. simply copy pasta my config and let the dogeclient ride for awhile. I am now synchronizing with the network after 4 hours of nothing.

dogecoin subreddit will help you a lot with issues. I've had a couple of problems in the past and they have been superb.

I was having the same problem when I was setting up my wallet. I tried the whole .conf numerous times and couldn't get it to sync. That was on my windows 8 machine. I tried setting up a wallet on my windows 7 machine and it worked first time. Sorry not much help to you if you can't use win7 other than maybe look for a specific win8 fix for the sync problem
