Hello,

I have been browsing the forums and seeing alot of people saying that GSA Search Engine Ranker is really good for Tier 2 and Tier 3 Links and not good for Tier One Links, then I am seeing some people say that it is good for Tier 1 links if it is used correctly and if you do the proper settings.

I am new to the software so I wanted to see if someone could elaborate a bit for me on what the "Proper Settings" are so I can use it for Tier One Links as well.

Thanks in advance.

I'll give a few pointers but you will still need to tweak the settings more.

For tier 1 I would keep PR of above 3 or 4, OBL less than 5.

Do NOT post blog comments, guest books, images, forums, etc. These links are junk. I find especially guestbook links are the worst. I think any link that could potentially be spammed later, causing it to become detrimental, is bad news.

You likely won't get many submissions without a captcha service. Most sites that can be broken with captcha sniper/breaker have or will be spammed to death.

Last i would recommend starting with a really small number of submissions per day in case GSA goes hog wild and spits out tons of crap links. See what it is producing and make the output better by further tweaking your settings.

Once again these are general guidelines and should only be used as such. Other settings such as negative words are important. There are too many settings to go over one-by-one so I feel like these are the most important to pay attention to.

We are not going for quantity - we are going for as much quality as possible with an automated tool. There are thousands of websites that GSA can post to using the criteria I mentioned. These are general guidelines and can (and should be) be tweaked. I do not take chances with my tier 1!

One thing I forgot to mention that is critically important is to use manually spun content. If this is tier 1 then it better be unique and readable.

OBL less than 5 will take ages i think !! I always do my tier 1 manually so that i make sure i have done my homework well.

GSA is a great tool for tier1, but how you would use and set it up really depends on the type of site that you promoting and your overall seo strategy.

By that I mean, the way you would use GSA for your campaign would vary depending on whether you are trying to rank an affiliate/lead gen site, or a proper branded business site (that would be expensive to rebuild if you get it wrong).

This is something that is often glossed over on forums, with most people (myself included sometimes) just giving a simple, "yes it's great" or "no, don't bother" generic stock answer.

That said, generally speaking, you would want to set it up to build links (at a sensible rate) on contextual platforms, across a wide range of different engines/CMSs, probably using PR filters, and obviously posting unique content. You could also set up another Tier1 project to slowly drip some high PR non contextuals as well, for even more diversity.

You would also want to make sure that you follow best practice regarding anchor text ratios, linking out to niche related authority sites, etc. and remember, GSA is just a tool, and the overall output will depend on what you put into it.

BTW, I'm a heavy user of GSA, and I use it day in day out to rank pages in low/medium comp niches (with harder niches needing some other stuff thrown into the mix as well), so if you have any specific questions about the settings feel free to give me a shout.

Note: you only need to worry about OBL with things like blog comments, as when you are posting articles etc, you are creating a brand new page.

I use GSA SER also for my Tier 1, using quality scraped articles spinned with WordAI Turing.
I try to have natural backlink profile so I don't use too strict backlink target rules.

If your making unique tier 1 - go with manually spun articles. What I mean is paraphrase the article yourself, then parse it through bestfreespinner[dot]com
Its free and works but you'll need to manually adjust it as some of the words are pretty crap. That aside you'll now have a pretty top notch article which you can use a few times over without it being detected as spam. Next step is to create a number of tier one article, and set GSA to stop after 5 articles per day. This way, if I run it for a week I should have approx 35 really tier one links.
Before I start parsing this through GSA SER, I also use PR Jacker - That runs a check based on PA|DA and then gives you an estimated PR which integrates with GSA SER.
This gives you identified authority sites with a good standing (obviously if its been spammed the heck out of, the PA and DA will be low and thats not what you want).
Set GSA OBL to around 25 and to skip anything above that (don't want to share the link juice). Make sure to set up a couple of images to go with it, as that really helps give credence and originality.

That's it for Tier #1 (simple version)

Tier #2 - I'll just drop the PR down to middle range (5+) on PR Jacker, open GSA and let it go hell for leather. Only settings I'll change are to limit posts to 10 per URL
Tier #3 - Same as above, except I drop the range down a little further to (3+) on PR Jacker and remove the limiter so it will go infinitum.

PS: I'm a noob but that's what I've scraped together over the last couple of months learning, asking, reading, and testing.

very useful post, thank you

I usually do tier 1 only around 50 links per day until I start ranking within top 10 then I crank it up to 100 a day.
