Reviving my blog

Hello all,

In the past I had a blog where I published weird news which happen around the world. My plan was to create a nice blog where people would visit daily for a couple of minutes to see the weird stuff going on around the globe and leave.

However my plan did not bring great success =/

In about 1 year of work only circa 36k visitor came. This include own friends (via private facebook) and submitting the blog to a number of directories. The hits from google were not bad but still very low.

My adsense was rubbish... like I made only ?20.00 in 1 year (not even cashed out once).

Now I have been thinking of reviving the blog ... maybe start posting new stuff and use some SEO techniques to get higher rankings.

Any one of you folks would like to mentor me and help me in the process? I do not exlude having a partner/JV.

I understand I am a new member but I'm very active online and will do anything to succeed

Adsense is purely based on high CPC keywords, so posting News (which is not exactly targeting specific keywords) may not be the correct monetization.
If you truly want to keep it News-oriented, look into Affiliate offers and/or selling ad space for starters.
Figure out the news you want to share unless you want to be broad (instead of niche specific), cater to that audience and advertise yourself where they hang out.
After you know your readers, that's when you can sell them things.

I don't consider my self a good seller. My plan was to earn some money by impressions rather than clicks, however I wish to receive at least 1 payment from Adsense.

As regards to niche/general, I would like to keep it a general website and target different people. I was thinking about starting a FB page and posting links to blog on it.

Social media would be the best source of traffic for a site like this or any news site for that matter - I mean how can you target keywords for the latest news, when it has only just happened?

Obviously you can get big traffic from the search engines if the news is on popular topics - but then the first page is dominated by the top news sources. If you get into the Google News section you will definitely get some traffic from it.

I run a niche news website, and to prove to you social media is the way forward for this type of site look at my traffic from social over the past 30 days:-

If the news were really weird, people would be sharing your content like crazy. Perhaps you should start a facebook fan page and see if people share.

Thanks for your tip. I will look into what you said. I used to get views from google and still do ... I have not updated the blog for over 1.5 years however there is always that 3/4 daily visits to I think if I continued with my project I could have been more successful.

I definetly need to learn more about SEO since it is key in such blog. Also it would be a good idea to fund my fb page and promote it like crazy. People might actually like it.

I'm still however looking to partner up with someone. Nothing special I don't want to earn daily $10,000 haha but something nice and steady like €100 on a monthly basis would be super nice!

First of all, your blog looks like an authority site and this is a great thing nowadays.
Things to do:
Target some keywords.Choose those with medium competition.Write news which are based on them. Remember to vary your keywords. Post fresh content on a daily basis (post articles even if they are not targeting a specific keyword). Learn about LSI.Learn about the effective linkbuilding strategies which work nowadays (look for quality backlinks instead of quantity).This forum will provide you with plenty of resources.
And the most important thing:never give up!
