Is there a simple way to use Paypal to buy BTC or LTC to then trade for these other clones without paying high fees?

Maybe there is a way someone could transfer?

Where can you even buy dogecoins? I tried about a month ago but had difficulties finding sellers who weren't over-charging the shit out of them..

Edit: A lot of people also said trade BTC to doge, but which sites even do that? It seems a lot of them are to purchase the BTC, but not the dogecoin :(

I've started the long process of manually buying some DogeCoins, such a pain, takes ages to get approved lol

Buying doge or any crypto as a blind speculation (thinking it's going to magically increase in value) is very much doing it wrong. Doing it right is treating cryptos as an alternative to currency, especially currencies where you're forced to use banks or stuff like paypal to move it around. With cryptos, there's usually pretty good anonymity, transfers happen very, very fast, there's no chargebacks, no limits, and no fees (to speak of).

In terms of online acceptance, obviously the most universal is btc, 2nd is ltc, and doge has taken third, handily. The real value of a currency is where you can use it. So if you pay for things in doge, or accept doge as payment, you're contributing to real market forces that will increase its value, rather than just playing a random numbers game against other people with whatever altex taking a skim.

I have been following doge for the last few weeks, glad I saw this post. Im going to let my doge ride it out and see what happens, only invested what I could lose. I can only hope for the best!

What is the best place to get real-time stats for Dogecoin? I'm noticing different sites have different figures. Thanks.

I made the jump into dogecoin myself. Only time will tell how successful dogecoin will be, but so far liking what I see.

This is the best I have seen and it shows at the top the different exchanges http://doge.yottabyte.nu/?market=cryptsy.

Also until there is a site where you can directly go USD to Doge which they're working hard on you gotta go btc to doge. You can international wire transfer fees into btc sites that are reputable and you do some research on, then send those BTC's to one of the major exchanges that sell doge and buy them with the BTC you just bought. You can wait until there is a solid USD to doge but I bet the price will dramatically raise when that happens. So it's worth a little extra steps to get it now IMHO but what do I know.

I'm officially in on the cryptocurrency market and have a strategy. Let's see where it goes!

This thread made me try to understand how theses things work. So yesterday, after subscribing to MtGox, BCT-e and one or other similar sites, seeing that you have to wait days to be approved, or that you have to invest $2000 as a minimum, I finally bought 0,16 bitcoins on localbitcoins.com.
I'm waiting for the bitcoins to be on my account, and then I'll try to buy xx,xxx Dogecoins.

I invested €100. Wait and see :)

Similar route I did as the approval times are a joke lol that 100 Euros should definitely get you close to 6 figures though! I'm at just over 25k Doge lol

Yeah I'm disappointed with the long delays too. So much in fact, I didn't finish my order for buying 10 BTC just now. I verified my bank account and identity this morning and went to go make the purchase and actually hit Submit Order but then a pop up came saying that it will be 4 business days before the deposit will go through and gave me a date of Wednesday the 29th of when they will be deposited. I had to confirm it, but I just hit cancel instead.

It's one thing if I know I'm going to be sitting on BTC for awhile then I know my entry point would have been today regardless of next week's price. However, I'm only using BTC to switch to Doge so having a 6 day lag and committing to a price point on BTC is unsettling to me. It would behoove me to just wait until Monday to make the purchase as the coins would then be available on Thursday the 30th.

Obviously hindsight is 20/20 so maybe buying now would be more profitable than waiting till Monday, but it may not be too. Either way, it sucks that I can't just wire them the funds and have the coins same or next day.
