Is Ebay a Way to Make Money Anymore?

Hello,

I was selling on ebay for a while and sold some small things with no profits really. I tried dropshipping but then learned that dropshipping isn't the way anymore. So I tried wholesale buying, Bought some clothing lots like 6 packs of women tights for $3.50 each. Tried to sell that back on ebay and no return in profits or any conversions or interest whats so ever. I have tried selling some products I didn't need anymore and had for so long in great condition and no sales. I am pretty good with making ebay listings, so I know thats not the issue. I personally think ebay is a lost cause now. Nothing sells and if they do, its usually buy a manufacturer who sells products for small profits like $1, and sell thousandths, to make their money. So people like me cant really make the money they do because we dont have the funds they have to run that kind of operation.I don't know about you guys but i think ebay is dead for the newcomers.

You haven't found the right product yet, there is for sure money to be made still on eBay.. Just for encouragement, my brother made profit $1,500 from eBay last month and has just opened a website to continue growth...

Just find the correct product(s) and run with them.

Right, and that is extremely hard to do, Because if i try to tap a niche with low competition, i cant seem to get enough buyers to go to them and purchase. Then if you find a popular niche, your out beat by some US sellers and mainly the Asian market. Is your brother selling real authentic products?

I know that feeling, but you need to just keep looking until you hit the perfect niche or find the perfect supplier

I've only made money selling my useless junk. I've never run a store before. I tried some drop shipping, but I ended up losing money.

It's so saturated. If you're selling something like iPhone cases or whatever, you'll never compete. You have to offer something unique/exclusive or something cheaper than anyone else. That's the only way to see a great income, otherwise you won't make much. This is especially true in the US. If you're located in somewhere like Russia or something, you might get a nice stream of Russian ebayers because you can offer a cheaper shipping rate even though there might be the same product being sold by a competitor for cheaper.

I have a great way to make some money. Search "5.15" under US Stamps/Postage (sometimes "5.6" also). You will see a seller with multiple stealth accounts selling netstamp (the kind you print at home) $5.15 stamps, over $600 worth in each auction. Usually lists 4 auctions per day. They sell for about $200. The trick is this seller is in China, but uses US locations in his stealth accounts to fool bidders into believing the stamps are real. Seller never uses a stealth account more than once. Must be easier in china to make stealth accounts. If you see a listing with zero feedback, selling 5.15 stamps, then this is the guy. Bid on the auction and win the stamps. When they arrive (from china, not the represented US location), claim that they are fakes (which they are) and you want to return them for a refund. Since they are fakes, you can't ship them, just ship a copy of them with a note to the seller's fake US address. They will go to the fake US address (google it to make sure it is a real address), so keep a copy of the tracking. Once they arrive, the seller has 5-6 days to refund, which they probably won't, even if they keep track of one of dozens of stealth accounts they use. Then you file with ebay for your refund, which you will receive. Repeat with the next auction/stealth account the seller has. You keep the $600 + worth of stamps to use or resell, but know this: they are fakes, but very good ones.

Because of these bullshit sellers ebay becomes more strict day after day..

That is the main reason I posted this information. Ebay tightens up on US sellers, and those in other countries continue to abuse posing as US sellers. I am sitting on about 4000 dollars of stamps from this method and another 1200 in the return process right now.

I wouldn't go the ebay route, been there, done that.

it is impossible to build a stable business on a platform that will kick you off, and gives buyers the right to leave negative feedback and doesn't let you leave it for them.

in short, sellers get completely screwed in the end, almost all of them. i would spend my time on just about anything else

Nothing new it's the same tactics that makes eBay a hornets nest for sellers because this same method (buyer fraud)
is done with almost every item on eBay and anyone who has sold any real items knows to watch out for guys like you.

OP - Do not start your business with clothes that is a nightmare because of sizes, colors and so on. Pick a item that
is clear and the customer knows that they are getting.
