I am looking to host various sites, Is it imperitave for SEO purposes that I set them up with seperate IP addresses? Somebody give me a quick run down on this.

Due Regards.

You will find people arguing for both, but in general unless you chose an "SEO Hosting Company" you are not going to have the option for multiple IPs unless you go with a VPS or dedicated server.

What are the perspectives, is it that once you have a domain that gets penalized on the same IP as others you will see negative reactions on the pages sharing the same IP?

I seriously doubt it. If that was the case everyone using shared hosting would be hosed.

...or maybe we are, and just don't know it, yet....

The reason for using multiple hosting accounts is when you do a private blog network, you do not want 50 sites on the same IP pointing at another site on that ip -- it makes it real obvious what you are doing. If you have (as an example) 4 sites in different niches on one ip its not a problem. Many hosting companies may have hundreds or even more sites on one IP.

So the rule I use is if your using sites for a blog network, hosting is so cheap = spread them out and cut the risk. I usually have 10 or more websites on one IP, but they are not related sites, dont interlink, and all have domain name privacy as well.

You can look for seo hosting which offers IP manager so that you can assigned unique ips to the cpanel accounts
