Directory of large companies?

This may sound like a strange question, but I am trying to find leads for the company I work for. I need to find large companies to market too. I have been basically scouring the internet (mostly data.com) for businesses with over 10 locations.

I have been looking for some kind of directory of businesses that might include things like how many locations they own.

I don't think I should share what industry I need this help for, but I can tell you it is nothing SEO/ORM related. Completely unrelated to computer stuff in general. However, I need to find US companies which have a lot of locations. For instance you might think "Taco bell", which yes I am looking for Tacobell, but I'm also looking for companies I don't know about. There are a lot of "management groups" out there, companies that might own 100 gas stations and 200 convenience stores.

I need to find these companies and get in contact with them.

Hit up biz buy sell and arrange by FRANCHISES in fact hit all the business sales sites and use this method. The reason I asked about the niche is because I have access to an incredible database updated monthly. I may be able to pull a few hundred records for you pending the search type.

I don't think I understand this part here. What is biz? And there isn't really a specific niche, I just need any general business with many locations. Stores, gas stations, fast food, so on.
