Remove A Page From Serps?

Hello, folks.

So I got a client who wants me to push down a search results off of 1st page of Google and I am only confusing myself with it...

What happened is that this local company got scammed by another company and it create quite a bit of a buzz around the town. Eventually most articles got lost besides one. One result remains on spot #5-6.

Let's call the company "Blue Carrot". So if you Google "Blue Carrot Fraud" you will see the listing. The Listing it titles as "Blue Carrot Fraud" and in the description it says some things but Google highlights the words Blue, Carrot and Fraud. If you actually read that page, it says something like: "local Blue Carrot also suffered from this fraud and the recovery was long." - which is okay, however many internet users won't necessarily click on the result and read, they will simply assume the company is a fraud. The company doesn't want any "Company+Fraud" results on the first page.

Now this result is a government-hosted pdf document so I don't think I should even try contacting them and asking them to remove it. The only solution is to push it down.

If this results showed up when you'd search "Blue Carrot" - I'd be able to push it down with SEO (building more web properties). However, I don't know how to push it down with the keyword phrase "Blue Carrot Fraud". I can't create pages saying: "Hey, Blue Carrot is not a fraud"... so how can I go about it? How can I push down the results for this keyword phrase?

There is nothing wrong with creating pages saying "Blue Carrot Fraud" and when the person enters the site you can say whatever you want...

You could try with "What really happened to Blue Carrot?", "Was blue carrot really a fraud?", etc. etc.

It is a common affiliate strategy to rank websites for "affiliate product scam", it shouldn't be any different with "blue carrot fraud"...

For instance, let's say this is an Investment firm - they don't want to even be associated with fraud/scam. They know that people won't necessarily click on the result but if the see the term "XYZ Investments Fraud" - they will simply associate the company with fraud.

2- log into wmt and ask for a manual deindexation
3- wait while smoking a cigar and looking at your clients face saying "yea bitch, thats right"


/e forgot! make sure to change your robot.txt so no search engines can access that url!
ALso forgot the Aviator sunglasses, make sure to get them on while you smoke the cigar

The 3rd step is freaking awesome. However, as I mentioned I don't theink I can "delete it" as it's hosted on a local government site.

I understand your point... You should try something like "What really happened with XYZ Investments" without using fraud in the title but optimizing it in the rest of the content... Just an idea... The point is that you need to outrank whatever has negative news about the company and make sure all the "negative keyword" results are owned by you...

Google web master tools, that is if you have access to the site.
You can also ask for a url to be taken down from your personal gwm, however, your request will be most likely ignored/denied

Web master tools... yeah, I don't have access to the government website

I did have an idea of requesting Google to take it down but I realize that without a court order Google would simply ignore it

Try outranking it to push it down in the SERPS. If it is really a part of a .gov site then you have a hard task ahead of you.
