2014 Niche Site Tips?

What's up people,

So two weeks ago I made a new niche site which is a sub-niche of dog training. So far the site is making me anywhere from $5-$15 a day from Adsense (Had one $20 day as well). What are some tips on things that work for making niche sites in 2014? As in what is the safest blackhat method to use for ranking?

Edit: I intend to have this site up for the long haul. I've made small authority sites before using methods that Pay Flynn has shown on SPI Blog. The problem is I KNOW that a lot of these methods are outdated now and I'm looking for some new ones. Pat is an awesome and not to mention really bright guy, but he's not as hungry as he used to be lol

I would assume the methods that worked in 2013 still work now. Minus the major Google updates.

The best blackhat ranking method I know of is just link spam. This is best for churn-and-burn sites, but if you're looking to have the site up for the long term, I would recommend staying away from link spam and looking to get several high-quality links.

I wouldn't link spam, then. Most mainstream blackhat methods (read: ones you see on an open forum like this) end up getting your site penalized down the road. I would work primarily on on-site SEO. Making sure there isn't repetitive content across the site, setting your Archives as no-index, etc. Once you've got on-site SEO set up, I'd start to do link-building.

A recommendation I saw on Voidray's journey thread said to purchase directory links from really old, reliable directories. These should be easy to find with a Google search or two. Purchase maybe 8-10 of these and let them sit for couple days and see if there's any major changes. Stay away from public blog networks if you want the site for the long run, either go with private blog networks or try to get your own backlinks (guest posting, link swapping, etc).
