Will try to explain more clearly:

• In WHB, under Content Software, I clicked on SpinnerChiefIII Download link...
• That action began downloading the software. Now I want to know where does it downloads the software? In which folder/etc on my harddisk drive (HDD)...
• The download obviously stopped without installing the software. Now I want to know how can I remove that partially downloaded software from my HDD, because I want to release that space and also because I do not wish to keep any software on my HDD which could be unsafe as it cannot be checked through AV software, and because unless the software installs and works, why keep it or its pieces on the PC?
• If it installs and works, then fine! I can test it then, but it frustrates with sudden and silent stoppages, and also because the downloader/installer doesn't give any popup window intimation about the process.

for any GUI programmer, it's easy to insert MsgBoxes at appropriate places, and convey the progress to the user. Indeed, that's the an important part of whole idea of GUI programming. At least I learned that way when I was working on Sybase/Oracle and different frontend GUI tools/apps like Powerbuilder, etc. during the early 1990s... I guess the same practice is still observed.

If you notice other downloaders or installers in progress, you'll see that they give some indications of where the process is, and at the end there is a MsgBox stating the status.

Of course, WHB shows the %age completion, but doesn't give us any indication at the end (in case of unsuccessful installation at least) that the installer failed and it's rolling-back the installation or is keeping the downloaded part for any further action on it. Give us a couple of command buttons to either keep it going for a later date, or remove the downloaded part... That choice is a must, I believe.

The user is given an option to select a folder when installing the Whitehatbox app, otherwise the default folder is whitehatbox. After that, all WHB software installations (for example SpinnerChief 3) will be to a folder within the Whitehatbox folder. It's not possible to select folders for apps that are installed within the WHB app, otherwise the apps would be outside of the control of the WHB app. However, after installation you can click the down arrow next to the SpinnerChief icon and select "browse to local folder"

The zip file downloads to the temp folder in the WHB folder. When the download is complete, it will unzip to folder 127 in the WHB folder, and the zip file will be deleted. If the download crashes, the zip file will stay in the temp folder and continue next time.

What is the error you are getting on attempting to resume, please?

Thank you for your input. As you say, this a new way of developing and distributing software, there may be some bugs or faults that need our attention, that's why the software is still in beta. We can't fix the problems unless people like you continue to let us know about them, but - for us - the solution is not to simply give up and release the programs individually, that is not what we want to do.

Thank you for your input. As you say, this a new way of developing and distributing software, there may be some bugs or faults that need our attention, that's why the software is still in beta. We can't fix the problems unless people like you continue to let us know about them, but - for us - the solution is not to simply give up and release the programs individually, that is not what we want to do.

Tried SC3 Free v8.2.1

Bugs:
Attempt 1:

Using the only option of Default Thesaurus
Used a simple article as sample
Didn't changed any other option and used SPIN function
SC3 promptly brought up error window

I reopened SC# and this time I tried the Cloud Thesaurus (Recommended) option. SC3 asked me whether I wanted to upgrade now because the free version can't use this function... The notification window also told me that "it's free to try." I clicked the Yes button... The "Load Thesaurus" window also gave "Unhandled exception has occurred in your blah blah blah The parameter is incorrect" error.

Attempt 3:
Then I tried the free version with default thesaurus, loaded the same short article, spun each word manually, then tried the option ""Preview" (in the Spin menu section)... SC3 gave another error window:

SpinnerChiefIII has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. blah blah blah...

If I try to click on any link in your thesaurus loading window (to see those videos or upgrade the application), they give the "Load Thesaurus" error window with "The parameter is incorrect." error.

Attempt 4:
Loaded SC3 and default thesaurus, loaded the same article sample
clicked on Spin to Spintax option, used all default parameters, and clicked the Spin button
It showed the bracketed spintax stage (shows those bracketed spintax words)
After this though, SC3 couldn't proceed. SC3 gives error windows like either the "Value does not fall within the expected range", or "SpinnerChiefIII has encountered a problem and needs to close....." errors, depending on what option I want to click (Spin / Preview)

So SC3 not working for me at this beta version stage (SC3 Free v8.2.1).

What's the solution?

Of course running the app as Administrator. System is Win XP Pro sp3, sufficient memory, 2 HDDs with sufficient space, all dotnets (upto 4) installed

Hi srb888, thanks for your feedback, we will check them by using your steps and fix them asap.

But I think you are using the free version, not the SC3 ultimate beta version, that is why you got the problems I think.

Please using it by following steps.

1. get the free serial code first on whitehatbox app.
2. run sc3 on whb app and select to run into paid version, not the free version.
3. fill your name, email and the serial code you got, then login.

Now you should use the ultimate beta version and please load cloud thesaurus to use.

For get best result from super spin, you need load cloud thesaurus.

But I think you are using the free version, not the SC3 ultimate beta version, that is why you got the problems I think.

Please using it by following steps.

After I downloaded the free version and it was installed on my PC, the serial code is not visible anymore as seen in the above image... under the "SpinnerChiefIII", it is only showing "Run"... instead of the earlier instructions stating the License code, etc...

Hi, ok we are not aware of anyone else having this problem so it looks the problem is local to your machine. The WHB app needs to connect to our server before it can open, so something on your machine is preventing this from happening. Please check that there is no proxy in IE, if that is clear, please try opening the WHB app with your firewall disabled. If it works with the firewall disabled you will need to allow the app in your firewall settings.

Adding to my earlier post, I am using wifi and it has set my IP address to something specific to my wifi router. If you want, I can try using the direct connection (removing the wifi router) temporarily. But as my 2 children are presently hooked to the net on their respective laptop + mobiles, I can't test that immediately. Will do so if required later during the night (it's 9:15 pm here atm).

Hi, John (SC III coder) will be along shortly to help with this, in the meantime I just want to check something. When you double-click the SC III icon to open, the first message you see is an option to start either the free version or the paid version. Are you selecting paid version?

OK, done that and began using the paid version with your above-mentioned code, it got running...

BUT,
on the first screen "Load Thesaurus", before loading the Cloud T., I tried clicking on the adjacent links of Super Spin Check video, and other video links below them. the result >>

Each one is giving me "Unhandled exception..." with "the parameter is incorrect" message.... each link gives that error msg.

Please have a look into it...

Then I loaded the Cloud T., and this is the second observation and suggest this solution:
Observation: The program (SC3) starts), BUT it is not the active window at this time. Please make it the active window which the user obviously wants to see after the program begins, with the focus on whatever menu or frame that should logically be active to the user...

I loaded a plain text article...
I clicked the Super Spin...
It opened the SuperSpin window...
I tried "Spin to readable and unique" option, and wanted to set the indicator between Blance and Most Unique... It doesn't allow me to set anywhere in between the points! It's either most readable / Blance / Most Unique... then you could give users only 3 options in a dropdownbox. Why use a long indicator bar? Anyway...

I used the defaults and clicked OK... the program continued and brought up a spintax'ed content (with those different synonyms and brackets, you see). BUT, I realized I did a mistake somewhere, and wanted to revert to the plain text, so I tried the Undo option in the Edit menu... I wanted to go back to my earlier plain text. I CAN'T GO BACK to it!!! Why? I should be able to go back to the text without re-opening the content from the hard disk! Or if it was not saved earlier and was a raw text content, how can the user revert back from the spintax content to the raw content? I humbly admit that the user can fail to save it initially... but for that, does he have to lose his work, as the program isn't going back to the raw original content?

Is there a simpler way to get back that I'm missing? Suggestion is to auto save the original content at every step of process and may be allow the user to choose the option in a window whether he wants to save or continue as is? May be, another step is to allow user to complete skip this window with an option in Settings. I admit that there is the Save option on top already, but why don't we allow the user yet another step to remind him to save the important work? Anyway, that nuisance can be skipped with a simple switch in the settings. Just a suggestion...

Anyway, i then clicked Preview option... Prompt came up the "SpinnerChiefIII has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry...." window. And the program exited, and I lost my important work!!! Why I am getting that error on clicking any random option? Why can't the program arrest any serious error and allow me to at least save my job before quitting abruptly on my face? lol. Looks like more of a Microsoft error there, whatever...

Hope you're able to get whatever I am saying above, and get me solutions to those errors ASAP, or tell me why the program "bombs" as unexpectedly.

There's a lot of stuff in your last post to consider, John will be along again soon to try and iron it out. I can sense your frustration but please remember SC3 is still in Beta, there are always going to be bugs and errors in beta software, we are here to iron out those issues, so keep the feedback coming please!

Hey AJ, we have interacted similarly, if you remember during the early stages of SC. It's an habit with me, it's alas not dying so soon either, lol, to help old friends. So get that SC3 out of it's "stupidity" soon and beat that other sw which begins with "T",which has given me sleepless nights, and lots of hair missing, of course from my head. hehehe

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate normal desktop PC.

Another user got the same problem because his system didn't enable/install .net3.5 framework. After he enabled the .net3.5, it is working.
So please check if your system enable .net3.5 framework. And you can check it at control panel > turn on/off windows features.
