Flash Games Website

Hello Guys/Girls!!!

I`m thinking more and more since last week to set-up a website where people can play flash games. The thing that is telling me not to is that I know how hard it can be to rank in this niche and how over populated it is(i`ll have to compete against companies).
Also I can`t stop thinking that if I work a bit i can achieve 30$ a day in a few months (like 3).
So what I`m want you guys to tell me:

• What do you think??
  
• Is it worth??(the investment of time and money)
  
• Have somebody tried something like this before?
  
• Do you think that I can use adsense for monetization? If not, any alternatives?

I`ve found a very nice looking WP Theme.
I also have a database of over 2k of flashgames. The thing that I need to do is to download them can anybody name a software that is able to do this?

Very competitive niche yes, but there's a lot of people who want to play games and I don't think traffic would be the problem.

For me what would stop me doing this is monetisation. Your demographic is going to be mainly youngsters who are very hard to monetise.

I might give it a shoot. I also think that this kind of website are verey promotable on different kind of forums and youtube. I also have 100 walkthroughs. So that will bring some traffic.

Yes, try to bring a lot of social media traffic to such site and also try to make it viral. Can't say if such site will bring long-term profits but it should be good for now.

You can also use PPD/PPI with this by telling users to download the game and use PPD for that or tell them to install the game and use PPI.

I`m still thinking what to do. Maybe it`s worth to invest some money a domain+a WP host should cost around 20$. As a have a godaddy cupon code

To make the money Kongregate is making, you need to host your own MMORPG's with in-game purchasable items.
Cause people to need to buy in order to get farther in your games.

Right now I`m extracting every game that you can find on kongregate in a text file (name+link).

Flash games websites gets very low cpc, expect around 2-3 cents clicks. Ranking is not that easy either, you are competing with sites like miniclip, so its gonna be quite tough.

Also, you've mentioned PPI. There's not too many flash/unity games which have to be downloaded so I dunno what exactly you were thinking about.

Another thing is that you'd need a powerful server (I'd assume) if the games were to be stored there. If you just want to embed them on your site (I don't think that's what Kong does, but my understanding of the technicalities here is limited) then there's little incentive for the developers to allow you to monetize their game unless you can bring in a good deal of traffic.

All in all, I'd think it might be doable if you can figure out ways to bring a good deal of traffic initially (that's going to be difficult) and keep those people happy. I don't think this can be done by just uploading the same games as your competition does, so you'd have to make your offer better than Kong's, Miniclip's and Armor Games'. Bear in mind that some of their best games were actually contracted by the company as exclusives.

You are right. I have to figure something out, something unique. Although I think that I won`t be able to find such a good host. I mean I can find one, but i can`t afford one
So I think that my questions just been answered. I won`t open the website.

Build a large 4-5 figure capital first, then you may invest that into launching this idea with the funds for hosting, employees, promotion etc.
There are so many willing developers with mad skills, but they won't create a mega successful game for cheap.

You have a database with 2,000 flash games... where'd you get that from? Think that 1 or 2 (or more like 1,000 to 2,000) others have that exact list with exactly the same description as your list? If you just upload that database without any further editing to the descriptions, how do you think you will do in the serps with so much duplicate content? To test this, take a unique sentence from game 275 and search for an exact match (using quotes)... then game 555, then 796... you get the point.

Even if you go through and hand edit every one of the 2,000+ descriptions and were getting traffic, kids are the biggest demographic for flash game players. They play the games and very rarely click on ads - and even when they do, it's generally <.10 cpc. So you can easily end up spending alot of time and money to get the traffic only to find that you're getting pennies per day.

About the only good that I've seen from sites like those, is if you can get the traffic to the site, then you could try to get them to sign up (for extra credits etc) and THEN you have an email address.

Good luck with your project, just wanted to give you something to think about.

If you want to make a flash game website on a smaller scale, you could possibly approach a small (indie) team placing their games on Kongregate and similar sites and persuade them to build their own website where they would post their games.

Then, you would offer to bring traffic/advertise their website and you could split the profit from whatever monetization form you/they can come up with (ads/microtransactions/email/membership/donations). The reason I'm saying this is because you probably already had figured out some ways to bring traffic to your prospective site, and you could make it work on a smaller scale. I know Kongregate allows devs to post the game on other services/websites and does not care about their monetization methods outside of their service. Since they're taking a substantial cut from every game, the developers might actually be willing to get an additional/more reliable income stream.

Just an idea though, it would be hard to say if that should prove profitable for you in the long run.

I`ve extracted them manually at least most of them, but I have them under this form Game Name+LINK. So I have to create my own descriptions.
I like your idea of building an email list out of the sing up`s, but as you said most of the emails will come from kids(they can be easy to trick into completing CPA offers)
Also I have 100+ walkthrughts that can bring some traffic from youtube and other streaming websites.

Nice twist but I keep thinking why a bunch of TRAINED DEV. would want to split the profit with me..Just, because I brought the traffic? They have the money to hire some SEO guru and build some campaigns.
IDK. I wont know until I`ll give it a try.
Also guys you are very helpful. I can see that you have a lot of experience.
Bear in mind that I don`t want to get rich out of this. Just idk around 300$ a month will do the work.
