I got a DMCA request recently for posting a movie and was wondering if I should ignore it.
I'm using an american webhost but I'm behind Cloudflare so they won't be able to find out which host I'm using - well atleast not without a few extra steps.
So I was wondering, what will happen if I ignore these DMCA warnings? Am I safe cause I'm hiding behind cloudflare?

NOTE: I'm not living in the US. I'm in Asia so....they can't sue me can they?

can you tell how we can see the real hosting company of a site behind cloudflare??

I probably shouldn't say cause then I'll be making it easier for everyone to find my real host ;)
I'm sure you can find it out with a google search.
Right now I wanna know about the consequences of ignoring DMCA warnings.

Well it will only require an email to Cloudflare and they will reveal the details of your web hosting company.. or they can check the dns details of your ftp server assuming that it is not covered by the cloudflare...

If your whole site is illegal, then your hosting account will be terminated and your website files will be deleted.. or you will be given a warning.

validuser, you are playing with fire, be prepared to get burned!
Ignore the request only if you make a decent amount from that specific video. Is this video worth to get the site down? You decide.

No, don't rely on Cloudflare for Ignoring DMCA requests.

All It takes Is one email to them and CF will hand over all your Info. If you are hosting copyrighted material, you need a good offshore host located In a good country (and In some cases a good/safe domain extension).

That's the only way I have been able to run a file sharing site this long :p

Umm... completely will not protect you in any way. Reasons stated above. CF will immediately give your details as any sensible company would.

Could you tell me which host you're using? I'm thinking of switching to nextgenhost as they claim to ignore DMCA messages. Their servers are in Romania, is that good enough?
Thanks for the help guys!

I realize it wasn't the specific wording of your question OP, but if making yourself impenetrable to DMCA notices, I think there are better solutions than CloudFlare.

There are at least a few providers here on BHW in the hosting section that offer DMCA-safe hosting, and I'm sure there are countless others around the interwebs too.
