I am thinking of writing an ebook for a specific niche and selling it online. However, I feel like not having any other products on the site might make it shady. I was thinking of setting up a forum as well as an affiliate program (it is a learning product). Any other suggestions for selling an ebook for noobie?

I've seen dozen of sites that sell e-books only. Just make sure your pre-sale is good. Have positive (fake) reviews on the website, etc.

I'm currently in the process of writing an ebook also, I'm just thinking about putting it on amazon :)

Well, your first suggestion helps a lot but I don't think positive (F-A-K-E) reviews will help greatly. Many people want to have quality products and as the buyer, they make sure that they are choosing the right one. What if they found out that the review was not truthful? Do you think they would still go for acquiring? Worse, it will just lead to negative feedbacks from the clients. No offense here, just suggesting. :o

One last suggestion: YOu can also make use of the social networks for promoting your site and your ebooks as well. And since you have your own site, you can try the Gumroad overlay (I think you knew this already but if not, you can goole it). You can also sell your ebooks through other sites such as Lulu, pay(dot)com, and smashwords(but there's a 15% commission for every sale). :)

You just need a sales page and you e-book, and you are good to go.

Then promote your sales page.

Gumroad looks good. Expensive though, they take 5% +25c of every sale and I don't think you can integrate paypal (if you can, you would have paypal's fees on top of gumroads (almost 8% of every sale.)

Theres 100s of 1000s of ebooks out there, the majority of them being total crap. So my question would be what are you going to do to make yours stand out above the rest? That should be your main focus right now.

You can find examples of ebooks in the download section here, check those out for ideas (ideas on what not to do lol!) these are the sort I was speaking about before, they are sold on WaFo for a few bucks a piece and they usually suck badly, but you can find some rare gems I have to admit.

Really if your going to do this, find something people really need help with and give them the solution. Price it well and create a good site to sell it, look at places like clickbank then to promote it if your going down the membership route.

Have confidence in your title. The attraction starts there. Also think of supplements to the book or other assisting related tools as downloads or membership if they have the book.

Dude, please stop bumping ancient threads...
