Client Asking Me To Write a Negative Review About Another Company

Tell your client to take the "educational" root. Do a prospect pesrona identification, write down all this knowledge he claims he has (which I dont doubt) and tell him to write content around it to support his statements and defend his product. I know I sound like a MoZ fanboy here but I really do believe that is much more beneficial than going the unethical root of writing negative reviews.

Don't be dishonest for few penny,If your client product is good than other seller,Then Public must be Buy your client product,So be Honest,
"Honesty is the best policy"

If you write the review, it could be you that will be sued.
If your review contains verifiable facts then you will be fine but if it is based on speculation or hearsay then you might have problems.

Don't ever feel pressurised into doing anything you are not comfortable with.

If your client is worth keeping then they should accept that.
If not then drop the client, they can pay somebody else to do their dirty work.

Well if your client doesn't want to buy the product to investigate, perhaps you can buy the product yourself and do your own comparison. (Of course be sure to include/pad your cost in purchasing the product to your client's bill, that is if you can't return the product afterwards and get a refund).

Well i would suggest not to do any negative comments. It just do not feel good at the end of the day.

Last year I had a situation with a client that I respect & admire both personally & professionally. She had a personal situation with an individual that really wasn't worth her time, but was insistent on playing a little "online retaliation" just to vent some frustration & pain from her personal issue with this individual. I knew this was a bad idea from the start as it was NOT in her character, and professionally she owns & operates a $100 million company with a (formerly) perfect reputation. She managed to get someone to go the negative route online, and for a few months it seemed to give her a feeling of justice.
Then one day, she discovers that the other party turned around & copied exactly the method that her "negative campaign" guy had implemented, and as we all know, Ripoff Report doesn't remove things & climbs the Google SERPs very well. I'm not saying she deserved it, but there's serious long term consequences that most people don't understand that can come from decisions that are emotionally fueled.

yep, who's to say it won't happen back to them when they get wind of it.

I suggest not to do it since you are not comfortable with it.

This was an interesting thread I was hoping to find some sort of resolution for. What did you eventually end up doing when you said you went another way?

I haven't yet taken any action. My initial plan will be to try and work on eBay rankings of my clients product, and other factors which may be influencing the vast decrease in sales via eBay.
