URL masking, is it necessary?

Do i have to do URL masking with every URL redirect?

i asked my domain registrar to do a 301 redirect for me, but he didn't know what 301 redirect was and he says we will do URL forwarding in the domain control panel. (by the way i don't have access to the control panel)

so is the URL forwarding in the domain control panel is considered a 301 redirect?

Is it necessary? Yes if you want to really make some serious money it is absolutely necessary I have a domain that I redirect to a cb product and if you don't really pay attention closely you won't even notice the redirect because I had my sister go to my site and she had to visit the site about 5 times before she could see the page redirecting I have a little trick I use to fool people so they hardly notice it. To answer the other question yes in my opinion a 301 redirect is the same as domain forwarding but I prefer the redirect.
