Like if you make a post and nobody responses within 24 hours, would I post onto it saying "BUMP"? Or saying something along those lines to bump the post? Or just not peruse it?

Sorry for the stupid question :P I'm just not too "street smart" when it comes to forums and don't want to cross any lines.

I really like it that you asked about forum etiquette. Top marks.

Thread and post bumping are frowned upon. As proxygo stated, if you aren't getting a response to your thread then the chances are that it is a question that has been answered previously or you may need to rephrase the question.

I guess the worst thing that happens around here, besides the obvious trolls who've appeared since REP is gone, is not properly searching before posting a new thread.

Go to google and use the site:blackhatworld.com operator. Chances are everything you'd ever ask is gonna be somewhere in the top 10 if you simply search for it.

Think of BHW as a revolving door of information. Your post comes into the system and pushes other posts down. Soon your post gets pushed down to the 2nd and 3rd page as new posts come in and nobody has responded to it yet. This is normal. What makes a post "worthy" of getting traction is what information is in it and how easily searchable it is to everyone else.

With a bit more patience, I was able to get some responses :)

ahh.. I would hurt myself :(
Ok.. just kidding :) But yeah, that would be a pretty odd situation haha

Hello there samiejg ! :)

Just like what you said,
With a bit more patience, I was able to get some responses :)

Just remain patient, be understanding, and never write anything that causes negative reactions to those who will read your posts.

You can also follow these steps: Forum -> Forum Suggestions and Feedback -> Guide for New Members -> Start Here

You can bump a thread if it is low on the list of page one. However, my experience is that bumping threads is a waste of time. Usually it's because people don't know the answer, or the question is so lame & simple that experienced people are bored and refuse to waste time with someone that won't do their own research. "What's the difference between black hat SEO and white hat SEO?" is the classic example of the lazy dumbass nOOb question that everyone hates, but there's an entire class of them. You should always put some effort into researching the question using the "search" feature first, before posting a thread. It's always a good idea to mention this in the 1st sentence, such as "I searched for "extra large condom marketing techniques" and couldn't find any advice to help me with my problem. I live in Canada and I just can't seem to sell any of these extra large condoms to my canadian visitors no matter how I try to market them. What am I doing wrong?"

And someone will of course post the obvious answer, which I shall not give here because I'm a stickler for forum etiquette and decorum, and to reduce myself to that crude level would be undignified.
