I don't want to start any arguments, but why do people just say things randomly against JDR? Things like the domain has expired when it has not? Or that we all got scammed when we have not? Whois has the domain as being good through July of 2014. I can still log onto my account at JDR site and Admin area just fine. David always explains what is going on and never has just ignored any of my messages.

I've been hosting for almost 2 months now and have only known my site to go down 2 times for about an hour or 2 during that time. I think that the service and price (Lowest Anywhere) especially with basically no rules to follow except a few is just awesome. I have a VPS for under $20 a month! So far the Service has been great they always get back to me quickly and have answered all my questions. My site seems to be working nicely no problems. Some say theyu are loosing 100's of dollars just being down for an hour or 2? I'd like to know what you do to make bank like that, and why wouldn't you invest in your own server somewhere maybe with shared space or your own making money like that you could certainly afford it. Maybe the hardly no rules is a factor small price to pay.

I recommend JDR they have been great for me and only a few dollars more than Hostgator's shared price for VPS with unlimited bandwidth!

I accept it Michael. I also like them as they are cheap and their server are more affordable.
But today, the downtime was unscheduled, and no one even had access to JDR site. It was almost down for 12 hours + I was worried about my files as RMX host did the same things.

I'm confused, where can I get this service? The link is not working.

It's just that people start to circle the wagons every time their site goes down even for a minute. They make statements with no facts just a statement, like he is scamming you, or he's just a re-seller, and the domains expired. None of these are true and the main JDR site has never been down for me and my admin area either I can always log in and see my files and just figure for the price and service along with DMCA ignored and hardly any rules for what you host give them a break and at the least back up your statements with some facts or proof without it it's just a statement.

I don't accept the thing that the domain expired. As i checked whois and saw it was not expired.
You logged in to admin area :O are you a admin ?

But today jdr site was down.First the dedicated servers went down, then the client area was undergoing maintenance and finally the whole jdr site went down.

-edit-
and the client area is still down,
Down for Maintenance (Err 3)
We are currently performing maintenance and will be back shortly.

Yes admin and it was never down for me at least not the times I checked. I'm eastern time US (Florida) so the hosting was only down in the morning for a couple of hours not sure how long during the night? I am satisfied with the hosting and if I was not I would just go somewhere else not put it down they are up 99.9% of the time for me.

i am satisfied with them as well. I need to accept that this is the second downtime i have seen and there is nothing wrong with it. :D

Our 99.9% uptime guarantee means that up to a downtime of 43.2 minutes per month is acceptable.

With today's outage we've broken the 99.9% uptime guarantee, correct? What does that mean?

That is correct. If you want a compensation for the downtime, please contact me directly via PM with the e-mail address you used for registration.

Things like these happen. Our service has many enemies - because of DMCA, controversial websites and other things. We may be down for a while now and then, but the main point behind this is, that you will not find a cheaper host that offers the things we do. Every time there is a problem, we investigate what caused it, and then we fix it, so that the same problem does not happen again. So, in short, downtime can have many reasons, but shutting down is not one of them. We simply do not intend to do it.

I understand, it's hard to run an operation such as yours.

How much is the compensation for downtime? Is it a percentage of the total hours, so 12 hours of downtime per month is less than 2 percent off the bill?

Have you contacted us via support ticket? We haven't recorded any downtime yesterday. Also, we haven't received any downtime reports from anyone else. Are you using shared, VPS or dedicated hosting?

down again wtf ?

Looks good! I'd like to host streaming movies directly on the server. I'm guessing I need a dedicated server for this? I've never done that before, only used shared hosting. Is a dedicated server similar to this? Does it come with cpanel and wordpress and stuff?

Thanks for asking. For streaming, a dedicated server would certainly be better than any other of our services. With dedicated server, you get the whole physical server resources to use for your projects. With shared, you "share" the total available server resources with other users on the server.

By default, there is no control panel on dedicated servers. However, you can get DirectAdmin ($8/mo), or cPanel ($39.99/month) as an addon. If you don't want to shell out money on those, we can install some free control panel for you (such as zPanel).
