facebook likes and twitter followers are pretty much the same thing. People will give you a Facebook like if the like you, your page, content, etc. Someone will follow you on twitter for the same reason..if they like you, like your tweet, etc.

Facebook likes mean people start receiving updates from your page. It generates big traffic if you got tons of likes.

Twitter followers are people who receive your twitter updates. Same purpose as facebook likers.
