SEO Forum Discussions that Need to Die.

I guess everyone who runs/is an active member on SEO forums bumped into repeating threads about some basic SEO questions. No matter how many times you may discuss the same old topics, they will pop back here and there with almost regular periodicity (no offenses implied ).

We have analyzed some big SEO forums (including our own) and made a shortlist of the most annoying discussion topics:

Is SEO dead?
Is PR dead?
Look! Google updated PR!
What is blackhat and whitehat SEO?
What is link building?
Is link building dead?
"How does [name] Google Update changed your SEO" (posted 5 Seconds after it is announced)
My website my.site.com dropped in SERP. What did I do wrong?

And what are the topics that annoy you?

Also, if you moderate an SEO forum, what do you do to prevent these topics from emerging?

The threads that annoy me are threads complaining about other threads. Especially when nothing can be done to stop them.

Just deal with it.

"what best method for guess post?"

Guys, sorry but I don't think that deleting those topics or ignoring them would be the best solution. (that will either make a forum a spammy place or offend people who truly need help).

The main reason why I started this thread is that I want to understand how to organize forum discussions the most efficient way.

Perhaps it's a good idea to make a special forum departments for topics I have mentioned, or a special learning center for those who want to master SEO. What do you think?

Well, those threads will crop up everywhere since it is usually new members who are posting them. The best option I think would be to just to link to threads where the topics have already been discussed. There really isn't much you can do about new users posting to find information.

Just be more welcoming to people.
Sometimes people already tried difference resources to learn, they just want to talk to others about it, because they learn better that way.

Come on.. It really is annoying to help someone when they don't even try to help themself in the first place when the option is available to them and doesn't take more than a few seconds? I too think you would become quite annoyed by questions like "what is a backlink?", if you had to answer that for the 20th time, when one can very easily search for the answer.

On topic, I do agree that not much can be done about it.. maybe have a thread with all the basic information as a sticky and point new people to that thread.

You are not allowed to advertise another forum especially a SEO forum.
