I recently stumbled across copywriting, and it seems like a very interesting field to get into. The question that I had was that, do all copywriters actually design the page they actually write copy for as well? The reason I ask is due to the fact that I have no technical skills apart from using Wordpress, and I?m afraid if I ever got into serious copywriting I would have to design the page as well.

When you stumble across a click bank product and it takes you to the sales landing page. I know that a copywriter actually wrote that, but as the copywriter are you actually responsible for designing that page with all the fancy bullets and graphics etc.? If so I think I?m kind of screwed?.

I was just under the impression you wrote a sales letter or whatever type of copy you do in Microsoft Word, and then you send it back to the client. Afterwards once the client receives your copy he/she hires a graphic/web designer to make that fancy sales page.

Any input or help on clarifying the matter would be greatly appreciated.

It is entirely up to you what you offer. You can offer a writing only service if you're not comfortable designing a sales page. Focus on what you do best and aim to do it better than anyone else.

There are actually some apps out there that will help you design a sales page rather easily. You just copy/paste the text and choose fonts/colors/layout/etc. I don't remember the names off of the top of my head, but I'm sure you can find some either on BHW or search in Google.

A copywriter does just that, write. Designing a page is a different whole game that most copywriters don't know how to play. See it like in a movie analogy...most screenplay writers can only write, let alone direct or do the special effects for the movie.

Just hire the services of someone who can design and you'll be fine;)

Copywriters all depends on writing the perfect copy.
Very rare chance that copywriter person can
design it. The reason is for writing a perfect
copy you will need around 3-4 weeks because
there is a lot of things that you have to keep in mind.

What do you think? Jay Abraham, Dan Kennedy, Gary
Helbert, Frank Kern, Ryan Deiss and list goes on
never design their sales page at all. They normally out-
source.

If you look over to the infusionsoft, the guy behind its
all promotion and copywriting was "Dan Kennedy".

If I were you, I would be focusing more on improving
my copy techniques instead of looking for the designs
part.

If you want to know the person you should be following
for the copywriting. Drop me a PM, I've a few in my
list.

I've few top notch people in my copywriting lists
that you can follow to reap the benefits.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me guys! I'm going to just focus on copy, that is what I intended in the first place just wanted to confirm.

I will PM you in the future for those names, and thanks so much for giving me that valuable piece of advice.

It's not rare at all. In fact, most internet marketers do both the copywriting and design of their landing pages. Having both skills under your belt will probably make you more money.

A colleague of mine combines his writing service with web design. This works out very nicely because the copy never looks like it was forced onto the page. However, I've never heard of anyone else doing this and, I would imagine, it's pretty rare.

I'm not doing it even, when i got the compentences to it. I'm doing it on my own sites, but for clients i'm writing for, i just deliver the articles in word files, and that it.

And are you still allowed to charge competitive prices to your clients, even though its just in word? If you don't mind me asking.

In my eyes the words sell the product anyway - so there's absolutely no reason to charge cheap rates just because you can't do the graphics.

A Copywriter writes. A designer desings and a Developer codes it.

Concentrate on writing good copy
Unless your a very talented designer, then you are lowering your overall standards, which will lead to lower prices and less work
