Wordpress categories outranking main URL

Hi all,

I've got a problem with my website built in Wordpress.

My posts category is ranked number 1 on Google for both of my keywords, but my main URL isn't ranked anywhere near the top 10 pages for the same keywords.

I don't want to set the categories to "no follow" and disappear from Google but I also don't want my categories to keep showing up as the top results for my website.

Is there a way to fix this, without starting again from scratch trying to get the homepage ranked?

Is my situation normal?

I've used 100% Whitehat techniques to get this site ranked number 1

The homepage just contains two streams of blog categories.

It's the blog categories that are ranking not the main URL of the site. I don't know how to fix it.

Does your homepage show up when you use the site operator?

The website does show up when I use site operator on Google.

The blog is 2 months hold and has a lot of content spread across three different categories.

A+, just do it. Your category page will get replaced with your home page in search results.

As OP doesn't want the categories to be vanished from top search
I think 302 redirect would be better.

I was kind of hoping this was the right thing to do.

I'm hoping that Google will eventually see the value in ranking my homepage above every other area of my site.

Does everyone think this will eventually happen?
