Paypal just fucked me over. I was on the phone all morning trying to at least get an answer. I didn't even do anything. I literally paid car insurance and ate at Wendy's in the past few days. Now I'm banned, all money is locked for 180 days until they send me a check and close my account.

I could make a new paypal, anyone have experiences with this?

I had this same shit done to me just 2 days ago, and just like you
i called them up and asked for a reason but all they told me was
the same thing stated in the email i got from them
Unusual account activity has made it necessary to limit account access until additional verification information can be collected.
i didn't give up and asked for a reason over and over but they only told me that they
"found my account was too risky and they think that its better to terminate my account"

so i asked why risky? and they answered , "we don't know" , "we cant tell you"
"its not that you've done something wrong , it could be that you were linked to
a fraud account" and a whole lot of other BS.

so i spend the next day with my friend (who is a lawyer) and we went through the
paypal user agreement , and there is really nothing we could do.

the only thing i can do now is start a new one and hold for 6 months
for them to release $7852 of my hard earned money!

I know Paypal is trigger happy but I doubt they just do that at random, for no reason.

Well they didn't just randomly spin a wheel and your name came up for a "Surprise Monday Ban!".

There is always a reason.. so give us a little more insight on what happened leading up to your ban.

thats what i'm trying to understand but they wont give me a reason
just like they wont give Realsan one

There is literally nothing. I recently sold Secret Submit on this forum, but I used Google Checkout for it.

My paypal being banned sucks yeah, but a big part of my frustration right now is not knowing WHY. I did NOTHING to condone a ban and every supervisor I talk to says it's "Proprietary Information and cannot be released." It's my finances, tell me damnit.

fucking ridiculous, fuck gaypal.
I bet this is a scheme so they can gain a ton of interest on the withheld money. It really wouldn't suprise me.

They DO seem to just randomly spin a wheel and decide to limit/close your account, it seems there priority has gone from being a payment processor to limit/close as many accounts as possible to keep your money for as long as possible.

All I can say is no paypal account is safe, sooner or later they will do it to you too.

I love how they hold people's money in the thousands and earn interest on it before releasing it to you. I'd sue them in a heartbeat for the interest amount in small claims court just for spite.

Man your lawyer sucks, normally lawyers do no go through the agreement "with you".
You give him the job, give him a few days and they start acting.

In this case: write an official letter to the most local paypal representation demand a money release within 7 business days otherwise they become sued.
They will give you back your money, if not they will give it back after the first day at court.
In both cases they pay the lawyer fees.

It's simple as that in almost all cases.
Do you think they want to fight a war over it ?

I would feel angry. Just like they made me feel. Do you really think any of us feels we are going to get our accounts opened back up? I personally doubt it. But I can piss them off. It's all we got.

Yeah ive had the same problem with my gaypal account that got banned a couple of weeks ago, had $1800 in it.

Anyways, its really easy to open another one.. i usually use this a site called visavcc dot com the dude that runs that site is pretty awesome, he'll help you with anything you need, they have US bank accounts paypal vcc's ebay vcc's and other stuff.

In my opinion if you havnt had your account for over 8 or so months and you are receiving ALOT of money they will close your account. This is what happened to me, and now im using Google checkout and to be honest so far i really like it way better then gaypal.

Just my opinion..

Spamming them is just going to piss them off. How would you feel if someone started spamming you?

I dont mean spam as in sending them CPA or viagra I mean spam as send your message to everyone email at PayPal and eBay and you'll get your money freed and a personalised response. Am working on getting my account which was permanately banned for no reason along with my 8 year ebay account back and they are now beginning to listen and investigate further because of this.

First he is not my lawyer, he is my friend.
Second if only it were that easy i would not only demand my money but sue
for more.
The thing is that they have a strong pack of lawyers (same as Egay's)
and if this thing would get to court (witch will never happen) that would take over 6 months because i'm not from the us and once you check that
little V near "I agree to paypal's TOS, U.A"
you give them legal rights to hold your money for 180 days.

this was taken from there user agreement Found here

  1. 10.5 Reserves for Premier and Business Accounts. PayPal, in its sole discretion, may place a Reserve on funds held in your Premier or Business Account when PayPal believes there may be a high level of risk associated with your Account. If PayPal places a Reserve on funds in your Account, they will be shown as ?pending? in your PayPal Balance. If your Account is subject to a Reserve, PayPal will provide you with notice specifying the terms of the Reserve. The terms may require that a certain percentage of the amounts received into your Account are held for a certain period of time, or that a certain amount of money is held in reserve, or anything else that PayPal determines is necessary to protect against the risk associated with your Account. PayPal may change the terms of the Reserve at any time by providing you with notice of the new terms.
  2. 10.6 Acceptable Use Policy Violation - User Fines. If you violate the Acceptable Use Policy then we may hold your funds up to 180 Days, fine you up to $2,500.00 USD for each such violation and take legal action against you to recover additional losses we incur. You acknowledge and agree that a fine up to $2,500.00 USD is presently a reasonable minimum estimate of PayPal's damages, considering all currently existing circumstances, including the relationship of the sum to the range of harm to PayPal that reasonably could be anticipated and the anticipation that proof of actual damages may be impractical or extremely difficult. PayPal may deduct such fines directly from any existing Balance in the offending Account, or any other PayPal Account you control.

I know that razor but that is just one more line in their flawed TOS.
They can write whatevery they want there but a good lawyer can kill most of it, there are probably a hundred things he can bring in to kill a term like that.
If that money is legal then they just stole it from you, get your ass up from the Internet world and try a step into the real world ;)
I've had enough experience with (good) lawyers to know the way they work will solve that in 99% of all cases.
And most likely paypal will NEVER go to court with this, they'd be fucking stupid.
What can they win ? a few hundred bucks from the 180 days of 8000$.
What can they loose ? They can loose a whole business principle of taking millions of cash for 180 days.

What can you loose? 200 more bucks and a few hours of your time ..

Unusual account activity has made it necessary to limit account access until additional verification information can be collected.

Send them your additional information. Unless you-
-are an illegal immigrant
-are a Con-artist
-are scamming people
are selling illegal services
-are a Nigerian
-are under 18

...I don't see why you can't just send them the requested info. WHAT ARE YOU HIDING!
