Changing Permalink Structure in Wordpress

I have a wordpress site with around 260+ pages. The problem is I want to change the permalink of my new posts and retain the same permalink for the old posts...

Like the old posts will have the same permalink but all new posts will use a different permalink...

Is there any way I can do it?? The only way I have found is to change the permalink of all posts and then 301 the old permalinks to the new one... I need something which doesn't contain the 301 redirect.

I don't think there is a simple way to do that. You 'll probably have to create a custom WP plugin.

I think Wordpress automatically redirects the old permalink to the new one. I may be wrong, but I think that's a feature right out of the box.

I see what you want now.

Why can't you install a second WP under a different directory? That installation's .htaccess would only influence those subdirs.... I know it's a PITA but that would solve your problem, and then you freeze the old WP and just maintain it(security updates, etc).

Another idea: Using an inverse proxy before your main server, you may be able to rewrite the addresses from posts under a certain folder. nginx is great for this.

So if all new posts go into /content/ for example, you can tell it to rewrite some virtual url into your current url structure.

If you change the permalink of your site with older post.

Wordpress will already make a redirection for your old permalink to your new permalink.

LOL! Create a new WP installation in a subdirectory, for example /content2/ then start posting there with the new link structure....leave the old WP frozen in time. From then on, all new posts will have the new link structure. That is, if you don't mind working under /content2/ from now on, just as an example.

Is there any way to do that manually? by going to server and copying the posts.. changing the permalink in wp.. then pasting the posts again thus over-writting them... Is it possible?
