HELP with Celebrity Photos

Humbly saying HI! from a newbie My very first question! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am creating a small blog site that will showcase embarrassing celebrity photos (mainly without make up vs with make up). I've been searching with no success. These photos are everywhere actually but usually have no reliable source and I don't want to get into copyright issues.

Does anyone here know where I can get these kind of photos? I'm willing to pay little subscription fees but not to the extent of purchasing from Getty (too expensive for a college student! :dong:. Free would be awesome!) I was thinking maybe affiliating with celebrity sites or even photographers? Any advice? Any affiliate sites you guys know? I am completely starting from scratch. I've also searched public domain photos, but really don't have interesting/embarrassing pix.

Also my blog isn't selling any products whatsoever, just will have a few adsense.

I very much doubt you will find anywhere that will ask you to "pay little subscription fees" or for free in the sense that they are giving you the rights to use these image for nothing.

If the celebrity is a big enough name then generally such photos carry a hefty price tag and even minor names can fetch good prices, you can if the opportunity arises snap your own pictures but even then I imagine it would take you into a legal mine field.

The trouble is nowadays most of the notable names have sharp lawyers that are always looking for an unwitting victim and even in cases where they know they have no legal case they will still chase you for the publicity angle that it can create.

Maybe try and broaden your horizons, as they say, you can probably find lots of before they were famous type images especially from school photo's or minor sporting events etc

I have been on this forum for several years and in that time I read as much as I could find that was of interest, I was (and still am really) a newbie so I kept quiet until I felt confident enough to offer the odd answer now and again.

I don't post or criticise for the fun of it.

Annie80 - I run a very popular gossip site and I have pictures of celebrities. In fact I have a "No Make Up" section with pics of everyone you can imagine. Occasionally I do get a DCMA letter or complaint. I have a very solid disclaimer and provide my contact info. The first complaint letter I get, I respectively answer it, and remove the offending link ASAP.

I've had about 6 in 4 years. The site is updated with 6-8 new posts per day so as you can imagine I have a lot of photos.

You will not earn a lot with adsense, so paying for photos will eat up your profits.

Good Luck & everybody try to chill. We do this for fun and profit.

Have you tried public domain? Its free.
Maybe start that way, then when you have income look into purchasing.
Here's a list:

Just scrape those sites with your favorite scraper.

Thanks for your helpful note ! Where do you get your celebrity photos? Any recommended sites? Do you pay subscriptions or work with paparazzis lol? Could you give me an idea how much you spend for photo affiliates, if thats not too much to ask? Sorry too many questions! I can also send a private message if my questions are a little too sensitive?

Anytime you are going to be using someones image or copyright for profit I would suggest that you seek out
offshore hosting and run it anonymously so if shit does hit the fan you are alright.

Just whatever you do, don't "borrow" an image from Getty. They are ruthless. They also own iStock now too. I don't think there's really anyway to get those types of images without "borrowing" them. Just don't mess with Getty. There are so many horror stories out there about them.

I get your point but you must also remember that if that is what someone wants to do what right has anyone else to object. Many people need to pluck up courage to speak (or write) publically yet if someone jumps on them straight away it will probably scare them off.
