At What Point Would You Drop Out Or Not Go?

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to here your insight on how much you would have to be making to drop out or just not go to College/University. I'm currently a High School Sophomore and earn about $1,500 p month. There's no question of finishing out high school, but I feel like I could really be earning a lot more if I had more time to do IM.

I know how you feel, being a second year uni student. This has been on my mind as I'm earning enough to live on if I dropped out. I think it would be a shame to waste the opportunity of getting an education, especially when you're learning stuff that could also help your IM career. Also with IM moving so fast as an industry you could lose everything in a few days.

I'd have to be earning enough to live on and live comfortably to consider quitting uni, but even then I'd probably stay because I love my course.

$1,500 a month is great for a high schooler. You can live off $1,500 a month if you do it right. But of course it's always nice to make a lot more so you don't have to worry about going out and having fun and paying those nasty bills.

I wouldn't drop out tho.. I would at least get a G.E.D. I don't think now adays you can even drop out from school? I know when I was in highschool I didn't like it and I stopped going and I had the cops show up lol so I just got a G.E.D. n said the hell with it.

Even more, use the money you earn to specialize further in your profession.

Where the hell do you live? I never heard of any place where education is mandatory.

Anyways OP never drop out always have a backup plan. You still have all the time in the world for IM and there is not much left of your education life why are you in such a hurry.

Pick the majors that suit you and that you like so you will go to school gladly. Now if you're not able to pay for student loans it's a whole different story.

It's not just the gross income, it would also depend upon the diversity of the sources.

If you are getting 100% of your income from a single source, what happens to you if that source somehow dries-up. Maybe through government action, a better-funded competitor, whatever. Your whole life is dependent on factors you have no control over.

However, if the sources of the income are diverse, then there is no single factor that can cause a catastrophic loss of your income. If one area dies, you can survive while developing another.

In general terms, I would need to see at least 400% of what I needed to survive coming in each month from at least 3 different sources, before I would be willing to make such a permanent and risky change in my life's course. The other thing to consider is whether or not you have adequate savings, aka "a safety net" to get you through the upcoming world-wide economic crisis. I think that eventually is a matter of when and not if, and it's possible that all internet sales could suffer as a result of that collapse.

First of all, I know High School absolutely SUCKS. I was just in there and graduated 3 years ago. There's no point in 90% of the classes. You will NEVER use it in life. Biology, Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, History, etc. are all a wastes of time. The only class you can actually get something out of is English or whatever language your country speaks to obtain better fluency and grammar in the real world.

Take your shots, I made 5k in one week when I was 16 so I dropped out of high school, got an apartment in OC under my mothers name and proceeded to make 250k+ over the next 2 years. Now that I am in my 20's i'm getting a ged and going to college to take a couple courses just to keep the brain sharp. Education will always be there, money making methods wont. Take your chances while you can.

If I stayed in school I would have missed that goldmine.

I wouldn't drop out if I were you. I hated school, and left at 16 to work in a call center...Looking back I should have stuck it out. But remember, even if you do drop out, you can always got back to university later...There is no age limit on it. There are many stories of people in their 90s and even older going back to learning.

The moral? It is never too late to go back to school!

You don't need to go to Uni but for the sake of 3-5 years while you are young I really think it can't hurt.

Life isn't ONLY about the MONEY.

If you are good at what you do then you can still be earning when you finish your studies.
You will meet lots of new contacts and be exposed to a lot of new experiences.

I never went on to further education and it is one of my few regrets.

There are few questions you should answer before taking a decision:
1. Is your income residual?
2. Is it safe enough?
3. Do you like your everyday routine?
4. Do you want to do IM all the life, if your income is not residual?
5. What do you want to achieve in life?
6. Why do you want to study at College?
7........

Many questions. Simply, you should not decide about such an important thing just based on the amount of money you make right now.

I was in my first year of college in 2011 which is when I really started killing it (made $250k or so that year) and I dropped out. I knew IM was what I'd be doing for the rest of my life and I knew it'd make me very rich if I dedicated the time to doing so.

If you feel like you can do IM well and you're a hard worker, than drop out.

Life is too short to listen to others, be careful though.

Hate college? - don't waste 4 years on that shit, go out and do what you want.
