Hi, just a couple of questions:

1. I'm interested in your VPS offer great Black Friday Promos! I was just wondering about the Bandwidth? Is it also Unlimited like your shared plans?

2. I had asked once before but just want to make sure the download speed I average with shared plan is 20-80 kbps and I know you said that with VPS and Dedicated this won't happen. I am thinking about going with you guys completely (I have Hostgator Now) I think so far besides the speed of downloads everything has been great with your service!

3. One last thing if I go with one of the VPS plans can you guys transfer the site from shared over to it?

Thanks for all your help.

The bandwidth is the same as with the shared plans - unmetered.

As for the speeds, I'm not quite sure why you're getting them so low. We've never had anybody else say that, and another datacenter of ours (in Canada) can easily transfer files between servers at great speeds. Somebody also noted (on the previous page of this thread) that they get about 80 Mbps down/120 Mbps up. I suppose they are using either our VPS or dedicated server, but shared should have not been any different. Can you open a support ticket with info 1) where are you located, 2) how do you do the transfers (DirectAdmin or FTP/other)? We'll try to sort this out.

Site transfer - yes, we can do it. If you're getting DirectAdmin with your VPS, the transfer will be very quick. If not, we'll have to do that manually, so it could take some time.

David thanks for getting to me so quickly. I did not clarify, I meant the download speeds of people downloading videos from the site. I tried myself from several devices and locations (All within Florida) and seem to get 20-80 kbps download of files. I also have friends and family in New Hampshire the same thing. I want to start a video membership site with paying members but can't expect people to be happy with low speed when videos are on average 70-80 MBs each. It would take forever to DL one video. I got the shared plan just to start with and love the service so far, I plan to go VPS then to Dedicated down the road as I grow membership.

I do plan on getting the Direct Admin with it as well. Also should I cancel the shared or get the VPS first then cancel shared or do you guys have a way to switch it over with payments?

Alright, the speeds may be slow then due to the "fair share" policy - everything is dynamicaly adjusted, so that everyone gets an equal share of resources. Such speeds may be a reason of having too many resource-hungry accounts on the same shared server. I will be looking to evaluate the resource usage on all of them tomorrow to speed things up. VPS and dedicated should not have this problem.

Don't cancel the account before getting the VPS. It will be safe to cancel when everything is transferred over. We'll make sure the payments are handled properly.

Thanks. Just waiting for your DirectAdmin license to get activated. You'll receive the details once we got that installed for you.

Thanks I'll give a Go!

i like to do the exact same as MichaelJustin -- moving from your shared plan to VPS. How do i do that? when i order the vps - what do i fill in on the server and Ns1 fields?

Also, do i get a pro-rate refund on my shared plan?

Thanks. Just use any value for the ns fields, as those are not really important for VPS orders. Once the order is placed, please open a support ticket and we'll migrate your account.

And, yes - we will pro-rate

Planning to get a vps classic 2 just for a test. I dont have any experience in linux.

Can you help me?

I dont want to purchase directadmin or cpanel, Will I get a hard time doing this?

Thanks!

If you don't have any experience, you would need some sort of a control panel to make things easier. As you don't want to purchase DirectAdmin, we can install the free zPanel for you. However, as we officially don't support it, the help we can provide, with regards to zPanel, is limited - you can find lots of info about it on their forums/Google though. All other things about general Linux usage - feel free to ask about :)

I think I will just stick to shared server today.. I will study it first before purchasing vps.

Thanks!

Hey I'm interested in your hosting, thinking about purchasing within a day or two :)

Can we choose which datacenter/country we want to use?

Side question: why does the first page say thread closed though?

Thanks for asking. Currently you can choose between Latvian and Lithuanian datacenters for shared and VPS hosting. Dedicated servers are available in our Lithuanian location only at the moment.

First post says "thread closed" because it was in fact closed between the time when RMX Hosting closed down and we took over by purchasing their assets.

Do you allow torrent search engine type websites? No torrents hosted on the VPS (just linking)

Ordered dedicated server from JDRhost (Xeon E3-1230V2) and here is my short review:

Connection speed:
Speedtest (server have 100mbps line as far as i understand):
PPa9Nwq.png

Setup time:
Under 24hours

I have one dedi and 2 VPS in other hosting companies and here is my comparision:

Me: I want to use server for XXXXX (blaaack stuff)
JDR: Go ahead
Other company 1: Big NO
Other company 2: Go ahead but price was 3x price of JRD server.

Me: I need os reinstall and i need windows 2003
JDR: Reinstalled in few hours (under 6)
I created ticket on 8PM local time, on 2AM server is ready (in meantime i was chating with support via mail - really gr8 communication)
There were some problems in OS installation because server have new hardware not recognized by deflaut in windows 2003 but all is working fine.

Other company: It was done in 24-48h

What i like in JDR:
You can email David (owner or CEO im not sure who he is in this company) and get solution for your problems / questions.
Its small hosting company and because of that they take care about customers.
Hardware and support is top notch :)

P.S. I will post detailed review after few weeks.

Hello,

Since ffmpeg puts heavy load on the server, we do not (and will not) allow it on shared servers. As for SSH, it introduces a security risk if allowed on shared servers, so that's a no as well. You might want to get a VPS, which you will be able to use for these.

David

what about reseller cost
will you allow ffmpeg
ssh
