I mean, the site is still up. We are able to reply to and see this thread so that means you are doing a pretty good job at keeping the forum up.

Yeah things are terribly slow today :(

Hope you get it fixed soon Damien, best of luck!

I'm suspecting that retard who posts a coupld days back, the freak that was sexually aroused by getting hacked...??

BHW is just like the Phoenix ,it always "ARISE STRONGER FROM THE ASHES"

I think it's being handled quite well considering bhw is one of the largest forums in the world and can still remain up. Just hope this gets resolved soon.

based on my experience working with sites against ddos attacks, rarely does a simple ban illicit such a reaction such as a prolonged attack. Most attackers believe it or not are actually more interested in being able to claim they successfully brought down one of the largest forums in the world. Another possible suspect could be major competitive underground networks that may have something against bhw or gain from the downtime
of bhw.
tl;dr it's unlikely a few members who were banned would go to the extent to ddos bhw (nor do they have to means to)

A VPS with a one gig up bandwidth, Cloudflare's registry of 25,000,000 misconfigured DNS servers. I would not say that many of the members lack the means to launch a DDOS. Now looking into the fact that there are botnets for rent and scripts that bypass Cloudflare's IP redirection... WHether they have the skill is another question.

On the lighter side, Ars Technica had one of the largest DDOS attacks in recent times and the did not have the problems you are having.

Even if it ground to a halt under DDOS this forum is 100x better than any other community out there. Hope you guys get this sorted out soon.

8/10 pages load for me, and even so - i cant send messages and those 2 that do open, seriously take a minute + to load. That cloudflare thing is bothering me... Yeah just thought I'd confirm the problem on this end.

Thanks for your views BrandingBaw - To put it in perspective we ban about 3-4 people a day on average with about 70,000 visitors, less than 0.00006%. Usually newbies who have not read the terms. Banning only where absolutely required or where the user has ignored previous warnings.

Fatboy didn't get a warning. He is banned until March of next year. Fatboy is one of the kindest, generous, most helpful people here. He has given A LOT away for free, and includes tech support on what he gives away. Because he snapped one time from being upset, one of the mods banned him. That wasn't right at all.

I hope, this problem will be solved asap.
Why & Who are doing this things?
Respected DD, please create the highest Security Level for BHW, as I can't imagine myself / my works & my life without BHW.
Please do the best.

We all BHW members are here to support you!!!

There's only one solution; get a list of those responsible for the DDOS and take appropriate action..

In a moment of weakness, after being faced with yet another CloudFlare 504 page, I must admit that I sought out another forum.
Needless to say, I came back here quite quickly, and decided to wait out patiently while the nice people running BHW sort it out :)

If indeed the attackers are hoping to drive users to an alternative forum, they'll fail miserably - and if you were the one running the other forum and DDOSing BHW, you'd have to take a hint from the fact that users would prefer to endure slow load times and time-outs on BHW rather than use your forum, wouldn't you?

I really suggest trying Black Lotus. They did wonders for me when I had a high traffic site that was under attacks.

CloudFlare is one of the better DDOS protection services. Black Hat World is a great online community, well worth the wait and slow load times.

A lot of people have mentioned banned users from BHW as possible culprits to these DDOS attacks, but I am sure there a lot of larger fish in the see that would love to take down BHW. Aren't there?

I am getting a 403 forbidden error after entering captcha from Ukraine. Works fine when using usa proxy, but it's slow. Hope to get back on again with my local ip.

We're really sorry for the slow access times on BHW that some are experiencing, it's not what you have come to expect from us. We have a solution in place rolling out very soon that will mean access for all will be restored permanently.
